Not if you buy a Miata. The joy never dims. I should know. I owned three. More smiles per mile than any other car in creation. While all the drivers around you are posing for each other in their overweight, overpowered, super-macho ego trips, you'll be having actual fun.
You want to talk about overweight, overpowered. Come to Uptown Dallas. It’s 95% $40,000/year millionaires driving lifted F-150’s that barely can fit in their apartment garage. Hahaha.

I've had the Mav two weeks and intend to keep it looking pristine as long as possible. I did the Ceramic coating with a top coat at 300 miles to keep the additional I paid for the Alto Blue bright and shiny and now park at the far corners of the parking lot. Will it still make me smile like I still do at my wife of 37 years after 37,000 miles? Not sure about that but it wouldn't surprise me.

I'm one of those types who always takes pride in their vehicle. I'm the one who waxes their truck every three months and vacuums/dusts the interior once a week or every two weeks. The way I look at it, I worked very hard for it and I want it to show wherever I go. I'm not one of those who looks at things as just appliances or throwaway items. And I'm not one of those spoiled young sh**heads with inherited money that has mommy and daddy buy me everything. I earn my keep, I work hard for my money, and I take vital care of my items as a result. I don't think the novelty will ware off for me. This is a vehicle that I finally didn't have to make compromises on. With my previous vehicles I've always had to compromise on something like the color, trim, options, etc. Now I can finally get what I want in my preferred color with all the options. As a result, I will always smile looking at it and always look back at it when parked in a parking lot.

Great you worked for your $$$$. For many people, more important things take president and the consuming glow of a material item fades.

Have bought a lot of vehicles over the years. The researching, the ordering, the waiting and finally the drive home from the dealership is where it peaks. After that, it's a few weeks of obsessively cleaning every speck of dirt and dust and looking back at it when you park. Then you get a minor scratch and spill a coffee and you just don't give a shi%$ anymore and it's just transportation.

Enjoy the wait
Ain't that the Truth that first scratch or parking lot ding and the Shine wears off pretty quickly 🥺

I'm one who values what I purchase especially big ticket items. As such, I try to maintain them as new as possible. It would follow, then, that the newness doesn't wear off of me.

Twice a day, at least, I say that I love my Tesla (40,000mi) Say what a great car the GTI is at least once a week. When I drive my 22 year old Mercedes I say, this thing is such a well thought out car and express affection for it. None are anything like new.

I hope to like the Maverick as much.

I'm pretty sure the GLOW is continuing for some folks (in their catalytic converters) weeks after delivery

Nope, I keep my vehicles nice throughout there life. I am the guy you want to buy a used auto from! I am sick that someone hit my truck in a parking lot and I was far away from anyone. Going to be fixed Monday.

Take care of the things you buy and make them last. When my Maverick shows up, I'm going to take good care of it. I plan on driving it for decades so yeah, I intend to keep it maintained, keep it clean, and keep it looking good.

Why wouldn't I? The longer I keep this $20K truck, the more economical it becomes. And yes, I am buying it for a business and I get to deduct the depreciation, but it's still nice to have an asset that is fully paid for and which I still continue to get mileage deductions on.
