Ouch... With the 13.8 gal hybrid tank, that's $73.13 for a full tank at the price you paid.

Maverick EcoBoost has a 16.5 gal tank, which is $87.43 for a full tank. Wow. Way too close to $100 for comfort.

Like many others have said already we wanted AWD and the towing. While gas prices are getting higher that really doesn't matter to us.

Wife has a hybrid escape, 2020, same 2.5/hybrid the Maverick comes with. we like it and it does well. For my Maverick I considered it but I also like the eco boost engines and just wanted one. I don't drive far to work daily (about 12 miles round trip) so the eco boost mpg vs hybrid isn't a big concern to me. Plus since I'm buying and not leasing the Maverick I do have some concerns about the long term reliability of the hybrid system and battery life. I really don't go off-road or tow a lot of weight (just have a small trailer to take the abuse instead of a truck bed for mulch and large items) so I would've been ok with a hybrid.

I will say the hybrid escape really has some power though......if you step on it, especially while already moving it pulls hard with the electric motor and engine both working at full capacity......its a different feel than the eco boosts I'm used to driving.

I did, but, the salesman came back and told us they closed the order date 13 days earlier. Sorry but we can’t order it.

If long term reliability was a concern, you definitely should have went hybrid.

The hybrid is a port-injected, naturally aspirated four-cylinder with no drive belts, a planetary gearset transmission and a long warranty on hybrid components.

The EB is a small forced-induction, direct-injected four-cylinder with a traditional 8-speed auto.

One of those has a clear long-term reliability advantage, and it is not the Ecoboost.

Yea, I'm very aware of what each engine option is. Each their own I guess.....I ordered what I wanted. Maybe if I'm lucky I'll see it sometime this year.

For me, it comes down to the fact that every time I get behind a hybrid in traffic they're going well under the speed limit and rolling through stops playing the "BEST MPG" game instead of driving responsibly I have to resist the urge to follow them home and hit them in the head with a hammer.

58% of those who entered their info in the "Maverick Order Tracking List" ordered the Hybrid.

This is just a little less than the 60% Ford has stated.

If Ford adds AWD to the Hybrid I expect this number would climb to 75% or higher as AWD seems the most published reason for not selecting the Hybrid.

For me it is not worth the extra cost of $3,305 for the AWD Maverick in upfront costs plus the extra costs in fuel because of the lower MPG numbers.

The very few times I drive in winter in Iowa, Illinois or Missouri I will be okay with the FWD Hybrid.

I'm not necessarily worried about gas mileage so much, personally I ordered the AWD for primarily additional safety factors (IMO) and traction control with different surfaces/environments.

#1 Reason was AWD - we get a lot of snow here (though so far this season we're under our usual total by half). I've driven Subarus for 10+ years and I really like the reliability and dependability of All Wheel Drive - I think it saved me (or at least my Crosstrek) a week ago when a passing tractor trailer almost forced me off the road in bad road conditions. (AWD/stability control kicked in when I started to slide)

I did order the 4K tow pkg, but if they announce an AWD Hybrid version with 2,000-2,500 lb towing capacity that would probably be enough for me. I don't yet tow anything, but would like the ability to.

I stated in another thread, but if they announce an AWD+Hybrid and maybe an "FX2"-style package that would be great.

#2 Reason was I didn't really know much about the Hybrid. By most accounts (aside from the burning cat, shuddering and other early issues) it is a fantastic system. Mon-Fri I do 90% highway driving, but on the weekend it is reversed and I do 90% city (groceries etc).

I think Ford realllllllly underestimated how many people would be interested in the Maverick; hopefully they're able to work with supply chain suppliers and boost production. No offense to Mexico, but it would be nice to have a Made In USA Maverick. (admittedly my Crosstrek was assembled in Japan though Subaru does have some US production)
Some parts are being made in the USA.

"If you ordered a 2.0-liter EcoBoost model your engine comes from the Cleveland, OH plant and the 8-speed automatic comes from Ford’s Livonia transmission plant just outside of Detroit. They then take a train ride south to Hermosillo to be installed in the trucks

Hybrid 2.5-liter engines are built in Mexico at the Chihuahua, Mexico plant some 300 east of Hermosillo and 225 miles south of the US New Mexico border. The HF45e hybrid transmission is built in Sterling Heights, MI at Ford’s Van Dyke Powertrain Center. Both are shipped to Hermosillo for final assembly with the Maverick."

The last 3 vehicles I've owned have had turbo engines. I like the feel of the turbo. And the option to increase the performance if I want to.
Just can't do things like that with the hybrid.

I don't need AWD in my neck of the woods. Even the AWD isn't AWD most of the time in the Maverick. Most of the time it is FWD.

I completely understand those that opted for the AWD. If I were pulling trailers and such. I'd have opted for AWD as well. Different strokes for different folks.

I see a lot of hybrid folks asking this question.
Are they trying to convince themselves they made the right choice? I don't know. Some of us look for appliances from A to B and others look for the thrill of the ride.
