All Mavericks - any trims, any engines - are appliances. Along with about 99% of every other car in this price range.
True to a certain extent. The turbo is less of an appliance IMO. 🤣
No disputing one of these engines can be easily modified and the other can not.

And there's no doubt in my mind the Hybrid drivetrain will last longer. I'm willing to sacrifice some longevity, for a little more fun factor.

HP is #1
I also require AWD. But even if the Hybrid could have AWD, I still would have gotten the Ecoboost for the HP.

Guess if the Maverick is your only choice. We kept an ND Miata for a few years as our "thrill of the ride" vehicle. That's what I think about when I think about thrill. I don't think SUV/small truck. of any kind.

I know what you mean. But if you can't own both. Nothing wrong with having something atleast give a taste of that. If just a glimmer

I thirst for the driveability of my former Alfa Romeo Giulia. I know I won't get that from most vehicles. But I know for certain I won't get it out of nearly all hybrids either. They were designed from the very beginning with fuel economy in mind. Driving my current hybrid is like driving a boat on wheels. No connection to the road what so ever. 🤣

I'm sure even the hybrid Maverick is a better driving vehicle than my current hybrid.

I needed the 4k towing and AWD for what I do and where I am at. Hybrid didn't tick those boxes. 25 MPG combined is also an added bonus for a gas only engine truck. I can think of plenty of other scenarios where the hybrid would be the more beneficial vehicle but the fact of the matter a hybrid can not compete with a Ranger or F150 sans heavy towing loads as an all around work truck. Fleet vehicle yes but job site manual labor on wheels no for hybrids. That and the hybrid electrical components are not proven to be dependable yet under extreme wear and tear that a work truck is put through.

Because some people live in Alabama and such where gas is still under $3/gallon.

Paid $5.29 last night for regular at an Arco station. Even the Hybrid Maverick is going to get expensive to drive.
At the station down the street from us (In Utah), 87 has gone from $3.09/gallon to $3.99/gallon in a week. I think the value of my hybrid (which we hope to have in May/June, a June '21 order) just went up.

The implication here by reducing a vehicle to an "appliance" is that something that has primarily a functional purpose shouldn't be enjoyable to use, which is utter nonsense.

AWD, towing and fun factor. I also couldn't bring myself to trust a new hybrid drive system, though at this point if they offered AWD and 4k towing in the hybrid I would probably select that.

Don't care about gas mileage. This is just a toy for me, and I wanted the 4K towing and other stuff.

For me the hybrid wasn't even on my radar. I wanted all wheel drive and I needed 4k. Aside from that hybrids can be really expensive to repair when it comes to the ecvt and batteries. As far as performance goes you're stuck with whatever you get when you buy the truck.

I find our Dyson vacuum quite enjoyable and satisfying to use.. that does not mean it is not an appliance.

Saying the Maverick is an appliance is not an insult. Appliances can be satisfying.

The point was that dismissing something as an appliance doesn't make sense, Just because it has a job to do doesn't mean it should be boring or depressing to use. Appliances exist to make your life easier, better, so you should enjoy using them.

Yes, and again, I agree with what you just said. So I'm not sure why you took offense. I've had vehicular appliances that I have enjoyed very much. I've also had cars that were very much not built to be appliances that I did not enjoy very much.

Sounds like we're on the same page.
