I received my hybrid mav a few weeks ago, and couldn't be happier with my purchase. The truck has exceeded my expectations in almost every way possible.
My only concern is the brakes. I find that they are very tight - a little too over responsive - and need to very very gently tap them to not get hurled at my seatbelt. I also find that the brakes tend to make an irritating sound when the regenerative braking stops and the actual brakes kick in, sort of a PFFFT noise.

Is this normal experience for hybrid brakes? Is there anyway to sort of loosen up the brakes a little? Is the noise any cause for concern?

Thanks in advance!

This is not maverick specific but might tide you over a bit.

I found with my Prius that the brakes ramped up in a really aggressive manner, whereas I find normal disc brakes more linear. It took getting use to, and in some situations would make me brake more aggressively than I want to (if the passenger thought I wasn’t a smooth driver).

Agree with the sensitivity but I’ve gotten used to it. Have not experienced the other sound/sensation you mentioned. But I have noticed a high pitch electronic sound when I brake at slow speeds that stops as soon as the truck comes to a stop.

I got a Maverick Hybrid like you, and I had the same think as you the brake were over responsive. I felt like I was going to go through the windshield if I didn't have seat belt on. To help with the sensitive brake I move my seat back three or four click back so I could not push brake pedal so hard. And now I stop pretty easy most the time. I hope this info help you. I had my truck for a month and half now.

Compared to other vehicles that I've owned and driven, my Maverick has very touchy brakes. I don't think that it has anything to with the hybrid's regen--my commuter is an EV, and the brakes feel pretty normal aside from a little regen when letting up on the accelerator. The Maverick is tuned to STOP NOW. ;)

That said, I've gotten used to it. Different isn't always bad--sometimes it's just different. I do have to be a little careful at the first stop sign if I haven't driven my truck for a bit, but then I'm fine.

If you put it in Slippery mode, only the real brakes work. But then you lose all the regen ability from stopping. But it definitely changes how it stops.

For me, I just had to get used to it. Also, back a trailer into a garage with touchy brakes took some getting used to.

Same experience here. I do feel like it could have been tweaked a little but better by the engineers. And the sound of deceleration is annoying for sure, I can’t tell how much of it is fake noise speakers and how much is actually the regen braking itself.

do you have a source for this? I've not seen that info anywhere and I don't believe it's the case. Slippery mode lessens the coasting regen but anytime I've used slippery mode the brake pedal still engaged the regen braking.

Very interesting! I'll try this and note any differences

It'll be nice to have responsive brakes on my truck for a change. I'm used to the horrible response of a 1990 Silverado, where it feels like I'm stepping on a sponge.

It is normal for regenerative brakes, just have to get used to it. I thought something was wrong with my wifes Cam Hybrid. Just a thing.

I haven't noticed any issue at all. The first 3-4 times I stopped on the first day I had it I noticed they were a little sensitive and adjusted. No problems since. I came from a Mini Cooper S with a manual tranny so maybe I'm use to sensitive brakes.
