do you have a source for this? I've not seen that info anywhere and I don't believe it's the case. Slippery mode lessens the coasting regen but anytime I've used slippery mode the brake pedal still engaged the regen braking.
Just from experience in Ohio. I was concerned the touchy brakes would have an issue on the snow, but in slippery mode you never feel the bite of the regen happening. Either its greatly reduced or completely turned off. Because the ABS works immediately when I tested it on ice.

I don't believe (i.e., haven't seen any confirmation or evidence) that regen is ever entirely turned off in any of the modes. ABS engages instantly when it senses a slip in any mode I've used. If it doesn't, it's faulty.

Just tested slippery, regen definitely still doing normal regen braking levels.

Side note, just realized sport mode sometimes has fake gear change intervals lol 🙄

Yeah. It's wild with that, the aggressive throttle, and no electric-only driving. Kind of stresses me out. I vibe with Eco.

Just spitballin' here...

Try modulating your foot pressure?

While I don't have a Maverick Hybrid yet....I do have a 2013 C-Max PHEV, I have found that I prefer to run it in Low for Max Regenerative Braking and use my left foot in ease on brake pedal to engage brake lights, for the most part, I one-pedal drive.

SAFETY TIP: Always check the rear view mirrors when using one-pedal driving, your brake lights only come on with application of brake pedal press.

I received my hybrid mav a few weeks ago, and couldn't be happier with my purchase. The truck has exceeded my expectations in almost every way possible.
My only concern is the brakes. I find that they are very tight - a little too over responsive - and need to very very gently tap them to not get hurled at my seatbelt. I also find that the brakes tend to make an irritating sound when the regenerative braking stops and the actual brakes kick in, sort of a PFFFT noise.

Is this normal experience for hybrid brakes? Is there anyway to sort of loosen up the brakes a little? Is the noise any cause for concern?

Thanks in advance!
Using the brakes on the hybrid takes some practice. You can't just jam on the brakes, you won't get much regen, which puts the energy back into the hybrid battery. Take your foot off the gas early and slowly and lightly brake. Think of how one smokes ribs, low and slow. You will get better gas mileage and preserve the brakes pads. Jackrabbit starts and stops defeat the hybrid technology.

Brakes are usually the first thing I notice when I switch to a different vehicle, even if it's not a hybrid. It always takes a while for me to adjust.

The hybrid brakes seemed touchy to me for the first couple hundred miles. Now they seem normal.

I have had my Maverick Hybrid for almost 3 months and have had no issues with the brakes or the brake feel.

I always drive in ECO mode so regenerative braking slows down the truck pretty quickly and I only apply the brake pedal for the final stoppage. In doing this I get the 100% "brake report" which means that the total braking was done with the electric motor as a generator so no actual physical brakes were used.

I wonder if those who are reporting the "brakes are too sensitive" are bypassing the regenerative braking and going right to the physical brakes. If this is the case then the "brake report" will show way less than 100%.

Simple fix.

Hoon it until the brakes are worn enough to not be touchy. A few track days and you are set!
If you really do this on a hybrid then your MPG's will be sh*t.

Reading your post and that explanation on the noise you hear, I know exactly what you're talking about. My wife has a 2015 Honda Accord hybrid, it's my first experience with a hybrid vehicles brakes. It makes that exact noise you describe.
I actually mess with her about it all the time. When we're at a stoplight, I gently release the brake a little bit until I start to hear it and drag it out as long as possible. It reverberates through the body, I hope it's not bad for the car lol.
It's definitely part of the regenerative braking. The Accords brakes are definitely much more sensitive than my old Silverados. I haven't had a chance to compare it to the Maverick yet, still on order...

My Escape Hybrid has a numeric power reading. I haven't tried them all, (or L) but...
- Normal mode gives off-throttle regen braking of 20% of the speed (eg. 8kW if going 40 mph)
- ECO mode doubles it, to 40% of speed (16kW if gong 40 mph)
- Slippery mode halves it, to 10% of speed, 4 kw @ 40 mph.

Interesting, and that seems to check out based on my experience. I'm really thinking about getting the app/scanner used in this review. Id love more info on what the hybrid system is doing.
