Looks great except one thing bothers me a bit. The front-most edge of the hood is visible. I do plan on getting one after I get my Maverick.

I think I will have to cover the exposed edge by stretching a run of black electrical tape across it. Stretched just right it should curl under the hood edge nice.

I have the same product on my truck and the hood is totally covered. As a matter of fact the front edge of the guard is slightly and I mean slightly exposed and will cut your fingers , if your not careful.

My dealership installed mine at no charge when my truck arrived.

The moral of the story is …..be very careful and precise when installing the product. For what it’s worth.

Back in the day they stuck up and they were called bug guards or bug deflectors and protected windshield from bugs as they could effectively intercept bugs.

What’s the purpose now? Too aerodynamic for bug protection

That's all my doing--intentionally. I had one of these on my F-150, and found that the edge of the protector cut my fingers twice when it was installed a bit lower. Wanted to avoid that this time and kinda liked the Hot Pepper Red line peeking through just a tad. I have some automotive black-out tape that I can use to cover it if I change my mind.

I've got one on my truck too, dealer installed. It protects the front edge from stone chip damage. The hoods are aluminium aren't they? Bet they dent easily

That's what I thought they were for. I also thought they helped from having rocks hit the windshield, due to the aerodynamics. I've had one on my Sport Trac for 15 years, never had a rock chip my window. Hopefully one of this type be made for the Maverick.

This one at NAPA says" Aeroskin Hood Deflector is a defense shield against bugs, rocks and debris"
Though it doesn't appear to have the curved up edge, may be a stock picture.

Is your Maverick Silver or Gray? It's hard to tell in your picture.

The Maverick I test drove at my dealer had a different one, more like what you both have described. I’m not sure where they got it but I liked the look and texture of it. You can see it decently if you zoom in enough.

How about breaking that sharp edge with a fine file or sandpaper? Before installing of course.

Here is my textured one, yes the hood shakes a little but I am ok with it. Most of my driving is at night so I don’t see the shake. 😂.

Really like how it matches the texture and look of the XL grille.

Maybe I should buy another one to have for when this one needs replaced if they end up discontinuing it.
