When you're bragging about your 6k more expensive truck having 30 dollars worth of bendy mirror equipped you're digging deep.

Not exactly a very exciting piece, is it?

Honestly, I don't see any sense in a comparison ad when the Maverick isn't even readily available outside of special orders.
That Maverick is already out selling the Santa Cruz though.

Agreed! I think the Santa Cruz is ugly, not better styling IMO. The Maverick actually looks like a truck. The Santa Cruz styling is confusing. I kept saying it looks more like a bigger car with a bed, the El Camino reincarnated. It is cool they have better warranty though, if that's true.
Their power train should be the same as Kia with like a 10yr 100k power train warranty. Only for the first owner though.

The day I got my truck lift and tires, there was a Santa Cruz there for a new set of tires. I took a photo to try to show the two trucks nose-to-nose. Sorry the pic of the SC was so dark in the shadows.

Worst thing was the price. This was a higher end SC with a $15k mark-up....the "Adjusted" price was almost $50K. HELL NO!

Sweet looking Truck no doubt. Great job.
Thank you, built by Hyundai, only driven by me... LOL! In other words other than the paint striping "paid for" and the lettering on the back - it's all Hyundai's kudos. For the record I like the looks of both vehicles, prior to purchasing the SC - I favored the Mav - I agree with so many of the opinions written in this site - "to each their own" enough said!

I've done this in every car I've owned. Best mod you can do unless you have adult rear seat passengers on a regular basis. Never seen a car where they don't come out.
They don't come out on my jeep renegade and the Blindspot are HORRIBLE. I feel like I can only see directly out of my window and front side windows.

I don't have anything against Hyundai, although I did see a brand new Tucson hybrid with 30 day plates die on the highway Friday. I was plowing the left lane when she passed me, not a mile later she was stopped in the right lane, my right lane driver had to park behind her until a tow truck could haul it off, He asked her to put it in neutral, so he could push it off to the shoulder...When she tried he Said it sounded like a garbage disposal with a fork in it , and when straight back into park. Tow truck guy had to drag it on the flatbed, because it would not go into neutral.
Really glad I'm not the dealer that sold her that thing come Monday morning!

That being said I would not want a Santa Cruz for several reasons, 1. It does not look like a truck to me. 2. No Hybrid option. 3. Way over the price I'm willing to pay for a small Pick-up.

Most of you people here are worse than the people on corvette forum always talking about how their generation/trim level is the best.
“My corvette is best corvette”

No true car people here I see.

And the whole profits go overseas thing is old “boomers” talking. It’s a global economy now like it or not. American companies don’t care about you any more than a foreign based one.

Some perspective from someone who has bought both a Maverick and a Santa Cruz.

Editor’s note: I bought the SC thinking my Maverick order was pushed back to an 8 month build date from order..

Yes, the Maverick looks like a “Ford truck” which was an attraction.
Yes, the Maverick has a hybrid, and in these days of almost $4.00 a gallon gas was a huge selling point.
Yes, the Maverick has a comfortable price point.

Now the negatives…

The huge turn around time from order to receipt of vehicle from Ford (which in my case will be over 8 months) caused a need to get something as I sold my DD back near Thanksgiving.

The tech in the SC is HIGHLY SUPERIOR to the Maverick.(bought an SEL Premium model)

Yes, gas mileage in the SC is not awesome. Getting around 20MPG combined.

Styling? Not terrible. Doesn’t look like a Ford truck though.

Price was a bit higher than I wanted. But I rationalize it by knowing a got a lot more for my old car than I normally would have.

In hindsight, would I have panicked and went out and bought the SC knowing the build date on the Maverick got pushed ahead? Probably not. Also, Hyundai had this vehicle available for immediate purchase without any ADM.

Bottom line is I’ll be happy with both and the wife gets to drive a new Maverick to work knowing that the ICE most likely will never kick in. (Three miles each way, local street driving.)

Happy wife, happy life !
Outside of the "wife" comments I agree with what you have stated here.

Everyone likes the vehicle they like. I had a Renault Encore. I loved it. It fit me. I also owned a Chevy Blazer. I couldn't wait to get rid of it. I personally dislike the look of the SC. It may be a great vehicle, but I'm getting a Monarch Maverick and this is a Maverick Truck Club so I, as we here, are a bit biased.

Ugly looks on the S/C plus 20 inch rims, piano black interior and HVAC controls buried in the infotainment menus- Three big strikes for me-
