I'm a Hyundai guy and probably would have waited to buy a used SC because they are quite expensive for a guy who doesn't like to spend (waste) much on cars... but......

The leaders never compare themselves to the competition. It's always the other way around. They tipped their hand. Why are they even advertising? Because they have inventory. Does the Mav? Nope.

When production is up to capacity, there will be 10 times as many Mavericks sold as SC's.

Take that to the bank and tell them the big mouth driving the pick-up in Texas told you so.

Just wait till my 3/7 build date actually starts happening.

The Maverick looks like a truck. The Santa Cruz looks like the El Camino had a baby. For anyone out there who has still not seen a Maverick in person, you will not be disappointed when you see it. I parked my 2012 Chevy Colorado right next to one and there is hardly any difference in size. Maybe a few inches.
Very Funny" looks like El Camino had a baby"

I went ahead and purchased the SC Limited in Phantom black - I really, really like this car-truck-suv!! BUT, I have not yet been inside and driven a Maverick; still my preference at this time- but I could not continue to wait. I still have my Mav on order and may keep both.

Plus side of the SC Limited: Interior is really nice! The tech in this vehicle is very, very nice! This tech issue / matter will be a strong point of my comparison when I get the fully loaded Mav 1st Ed! The ride is as nice if not nicer than my prior Audi Q5 or Mazda CX 5 - both were 2016 models. What the SC really lacks is the interior cup holders and extra storage space - this drives me crazy! And I am the ONLY ONE in the vehicle 99% of the time! OMG I have been sold on something that is NOT EVEN that important to my daily drive!

The shifter is nice to have - according to the many comments in this site - we all have grown to appreciate the tactile feel and placement of a center console shifter. I am here to tell you that is true (alas I have not yet been in the Mav) - BUT! The SC shifter is cumbersome: When in park it is an obstacle to get into the miniscule front storage bin immediately in front. I love using a Tiptronic shifter - when using the Upright shifter one slides it to the left. That maneuver then slightly bumps into my right leg - not a huge matter for concern - but the Mazda shifter never did that! Also this Limited has paddle shifters - I like that feature, but most of my driving 95% does not allow me the speed up and slow down efficiency of utilizing it. I look forward to an open highway drive soon to experience that shifting up for torque limit shifts.

I already customized the SC too... see photos here. The red and blue stripe effect was done to honor First Responders! The SC Lettering in the back has "lightning" effects - to honor my affinity for the TB Lightning - greatest Hockey team / program in the history of NHL!! (Inserted on purpose to elicit opinionated debate!)

Is this ad on TV ? The large majority of people I tell that I have a Maverick ordered have no idea what I am talking about. They just gave Ford and viewers millions of dollars of Free advertising . Ford should send the Hyundai President something to show their appreciation. Maybe a Free Fits Kit ?

Personally, I don't know why you think anyone here would care about what customizations you did to your Santa Crud.

EDIT: And remember you're the one who asked for opinionated debate.

Hyundai's marketing department would be negligent to not draw attention to a few of SC's superior points.

The truth is that they're both decent vehicles, with enough differentiators to give buyers a reason to choose one over the other. I chose a hybrid Maverick, and I'm pleased that it met my expectations.

Thanks... I have no idea why the Canadian put a "laughing" emoji to my write up... Simply would appreciate the opinion as to what was funny?

And that is your opinion... and the angst in the comment is akin to the ugliness of social media. Go forth as a ROCK STAR Karen now!

Well, they're not going to put that in their advertisement. 🤣
I like that !! I looked at them and the 3 dealers near us have them at 4895-6500 over msrp, and even at msrp they are thousands more then the hybrid xlt I ordered.that some day we may get ????

I guess they failed to mention the following:
1.) Ford costs less
2.) Ford has a Hybrid as their standard vehicle
3.) All performance reviews I've seen comparing the two for overall best pick the Ford
4.) Has the Santa Cruz won any Truck of the Year Awards?
5.) and personally I find the Santa Cruz butt ugly
Lastly they better have a longer warranty since Hyundai and their sister Company Kia have had a few issues with their powertrains ( not to say Ford hasn't had issues as well) but they recalled 485k for fire issues...
