So after about 8 months no one has come up with a for sure fix for the auto start problem.
Interesting take about them not being able to "fix" the "problem" when, in fact, it is functioning as Ford designed it. There is literally no problem to be "fixed".

dont know if the eco maverick will,,but on my f-150, if it thinks there is a trailer hooked up, it stays OFF, so I ,on ebay bought that led strip that has turn sig,etc on it ,stuck it along under tailgate, plug it in to the small prong trailer light plug, and no more start/stop, have had it over a year now.now I dont have to remember to push the button to turn it off ,each time I get in the truck.

I tried the 4 pin light tester after hearing of a Bronco Sport forum post about it, but it didn't work. Your idea might tho.

Well as stated, I exclaim loudly, so the caps are there for your benefit, as a visual indicator of my exclamation, so you can better understand how much I hate this 'feature'..

And, if you haven't experienced this feature, then I can understand why you may not yet hate it. Tho I know many people are fine with it... but for the way I drive, I expect the engine to remain running until I no longer want it running. I suppose 46 years of driving vehicles that remain running at all times might have something to do with it.
Yeah, after 47 years of driving, I have had one car that has this feature: 2018 Caddy XT5. My wife drives it 90% of the time. It took some getting used to, but now I don't really notice it because the Caddy is a cruiser. Now to be honest, in my coupe it would not be good at all ;)

Can anyone verify if driving in Tow/haul mode deactivates it? It does for my F150.

In various threads, I have seen conflicting opinions. Some say they don’t feel any hesitation starting from a dead stop, some say they do. If there is no damage to turning it off, I may just go with that. Just to double check, do you guys hit the button as soon as you turn it on, but before you get it out of park? Can you hit the button to disengage it while you are driving in case you forgot earlier ?

OK boomer.

Today makes 2 weeks since I picked up my Maverick and have about 1,000 miles on it now. It still exceeds my expectations, and I love spending time in it... but about half the time I put it in 'drive' and pull away, I forget to hit that pesky button with the 'circle A' on it, and when I do forget and I come to the first stop, and the lovely 2.0 Ecoboost engine shuts off, I first exclaim (out loud) "I HATE THAT!" and then I hit the pesky button to shut off auto start/stop.

I sure hope we figure out a way to turn it off permanently, without having to buy the $100 thingy. Please Ford, give us a way to shut this frustration off for good.

Saw this FORSCAN fix in the Bronco Sport forum. Maybe someone can check it out...

Should be a Ford MyKey option to turn it off.

Why do you “hate that” in capital letters no less ?

I’ve never had this feature in a vehicle and don’t understand yet why I should hate it with such passion.
Once you experience it, it's likely you'll hate it. Aside from the annoyance of hearing you car start up again at every single stoplight, there are times when you slow down to make a turn or behind another car, but you really aren't stopping, and the start/stop system will shut off the engine, then awkwardly start it back up when you hit the gas to go. It makes for a less smooth experience on a regular gas vehicle. On a hybrid, the battery and electric motor smooth out the transition of the gas engine stopping and starting, so you never notice it.

I don't mind the feature on my Ecoboost Maverick. Seems to stop at all the right moments, my issue is that I'll be sitting at a red light, the truck kicks the engine off but while I'm still waiting there, foot firmly on the brake, the engine will kick back on early, even tho I haven't let off the brake or given it any gas. I understand the purpose of the auto start/stop feature but not if it decides to 'start' whenever it wants.. even when I want it to continue to STOP!

Agreed 100%. Terrible for the starter. Not good for oil circulation and wear on the engine. NOTHING good comes from this other than the EPA being happy with 15 seconds less of ICE running.

I hit that button nearly every time I get into my Ranger and I HATE it when I forget.
You can just pull out the plug by the negative side of the battery or spend a $100.00 bucks and by the autostop eliminator plug-in or just keep pushing that pesky button

Could see this being useful if you were caught in long line due to massive congestion or accident on the highway. But otherwise I can see why I will HATE this

edit. Actually no it would suck even there
