FORD MAVERICK DELAYS AND CHIP SHORTAGE

That was what I was told, I wouldn't think they would let a vehicle sit a couple weeks. Maybe it's a chip need on a certain package like the luxury package or CP 360. That would maybe make more sense. Maybe I'll have to investigate more.

I don't know if that's it.

As I show in this post, a truck built 1/11 (XLT, CP360) is sitting until May while another truck built 1/25 (Lariat, Lux, CP360) was finished and delivered... at same dealership. The XLT has nothing that the Lariat doesn't have ... quite the opposite.

(I have the VINs, vehicle histories, and window stickers for both and I talked to the salesman who sold them.)

Something else must be happening. It would help if we knew what it was.

Chips ere in tight supply and chips from the shutdown plant will never be replaced. Now Ford is is telling branch managers there are not enough chips for all the builds.

Interesting. Are you saying that Ford is telling branch managers there aren't enough chips now, or that there will never be enough chips?

If it's now, I understand that. If it's never, where did you get that information?

I understand what you are saying. According to Tim's response, it would stand to reason that ALL Mavericks moving forward would be put on "chip hold" as soon as they are built starting early to mid January, since all Mavericks are in need of this same chip regardless off trim level and options.

However, this is not the case, because some vehicle are getting shipped that were put in "built" status late January and even early February, which makes absolutely no sense. Why would an early January built Maverick stay in production and be moved to a satellite parking lot to wait 3 months for a chip when a late January built Maverick gets shipped to the customer? by the way, my early January built date Maverick is also stuck "in production" and estimated delivery date pushed to May 21.

It sounds like we are still missing some important information as to what exactly is going on. All we can do is continue to wait. For me personally, the more I try to figure things out and get upset over it, the longer the wait seems to take. When I stop obsessing over it and put my focus and energy on other things the time seems to go by quicker.

Agreed My truck has shipped ,I feel like I won the lottery , eco lariat AWD ,hitch, inverter ,360 , full size spare Ordered 11/3/2020 Scheduled 01/17/2022 got built 01/22/2022 shipped apx 01/25/2022.It is sitting in Illinois now ,So I think I am safe. It is so random and certainly quite honestly not fair to many people who have ordered 6 months ago , honestly the dealers don't know anything either .My sales guy gave me good advise as to he had bad feelings on the hybrid based upon he sold a lot of them but only his Eco customers where getting trucks so I ordered an ECO ,he also told me anything you can get in the aftermarket or we can do at the dealer leave it off your order ,liners ,covers ,bed extenders etc this was on Nov 3 ,it turned out to be good advise.

I can't speak for Pepperidge Farm, but what I remember is people questioning this claim (from last Friday, 1/28), which I understood to be your prediction based on a call from your dealer:

I know you modified that a little bit later on, and I'm not sure what the current version is. But I think it's something like "some hybrid orders won't get scheduled" which isn't nearly the bombshell that the original was. It seems that every year there are a few orders at least that don't make it under the wire.

(If your claim is actually more significant than that, let me know. I don't want to put words in your mouth.)

If there is some major blockade that is going to stop Ford from building hybrids, it hasn't been revealed yet. Until that happens, it looks like they'll get scheduled, built, and left in the desert to cure for a while -- just like mine.

Once I get my Maverick, some distance day in the future, it will be curing in the desert long after it leaves the factory!

Tim, i want to be sure that i have this correctly - it is all XL, XLT, Lariat and all ECOBOOST and Hybrid and nothing to do with LUX Packages, Co-Pilot 360, or any other add-ons.

I apologize for the request - just hoping to fully understand the extent of the chip issue.

As I said in an earlier post, it's not really your job to answer these questions. It's just that we don't know where else to direct them. My own dealer is a good guy, but he is kind of in the dark on this stuff.

Ok This is pure theory ,and please everyone I know there is a lot of frustration and anxiety .If you get the urge to tongue lash me take the high road and ignore my post. I have spent many years in production line type business (not auto,s )
So lets just say ( and none of this theory is fair) production line is running, Im building and assigned build dates as chips are coming in or I expect them in . Im suddenly out of chips, chips don't show that I expect , I put those trucks in the yard that just need chips that I have built , Next day my chips show up a squirt of chips comes they go in the trucks being built right then on the line. Like it or not no production facility is going to take trucks off a line that at that moment they have chips for and can complete and ship,then put them in the yard so they can go get trucks in the yard to install those chips.Too expensive and to much damage and shrink moving trucks in and out. (I am sure it cannot done in the parking lot). Next day same scenario. Eventually and I think currently you will see nothing being built If not now very shortly .Then when production shuts down completely .and when they do get a good shot of chips they will clean up the yard before they turn on the production line .I think you wont see anything shipping soon . THIS IS JUST THEORY NOT FACT.

That's one of the scenarios that I am trying to run by @fordvideoguy, but I don't think he's really in a position to know whether that's what's happening.

I don't know if the fix can be done in the parking lot or not. I don't know what chip is missing and whether or not it's something that can just be popped into the truck. Maybe it can be done in the open, maybe it can be done in a drive through shelter, maybe something else.

I doubt that they will actually put them back on the production line unless they absolutely have to. Seems like that would be pretty disruptive and time consuming.

If my Oct 25 XL hybrid with CP 360 order is pushed back to MY23, will I have the opportunity to look at the changes for MY23 to see if I want to add any to my order, or will it be built as ordered back in Oct? Also, would I lose any price protection on my order if I make a change?

Telling older orders not to drop as they would get filled first assumes they are filling older orders first which we all know is not the case. Its a random roll of the dice for all. Anyone that ordered 6 months ago should have already gotten their truck.

NOPE!!!

My 7-20-21 ordered Hybrid is suppose to be built next week but it has a spray in bed liner(SIBL) My EcoBoost was ordered 10-29-21 it was built Friday.

You will be able to make changes without losing price protection I would assume. At least that is what they did for Bronco.
