Just dropped it off at the dealer. Luckily, my service advisor is great and got me in without an appointment and is expediting the repair. The truck jumpstarted no problem with my portable jumpstarter and I was able to drive it in. Didn’t get any error messages on dash surprisingly or check engine lights.

I jumpstarted it using the under-hood power posts instead of directly to the battery under the rear seat.

Just got it back from the dealer. They replaced the battery (12v). Service paperwork says they just performed a load test on the battery and it failed. It doesn't look like they performed a parasitic draw test. Maybe they were in a rush and just wanted the simplest solution. Will update if this issue happens again.

Was your original Production Date in October, but the truck wasn't shipped until December? I wonder if those trucks didn't sit 99% built for 2 months while the 12v batteries drained?

Mine was scheduled for production in November, started getting built early December, and was oficially built on December 17th. Delivered December 31st.

Radio software says last updated November 11th. Maybe some of the parts sat for a while but for the first 2 1/2 weeks I had the truck, I had no issues with the battery nor did I get any “Deep Sleep Mode” notifications. The replacement battery was a Motorcraft branded battery with a 36 month warranty but the original one just had a generic Ford sticker on it.

I thought of that but I actually just got that cable 2 days ago and the messages started even before that.
When do you get the FordPass messages? I'm just wondering if you get them when the vehicle is turned off and just sitting there, if so, the monitoring hardware is running while you are gone. Since it sends a message, it is also running at least one radio and maybe more.
If your 12v battery is weak to start with, it might not take much to drain it dry. Has your dealer looked at it yet for this issue?
Good luck.

I got about one notification each day for the last 2 weeks usually in the middle of the night when the car is off and has been sitting. Yes, dealer replaced the battery but they never performed a parasitic draw test like I hoped. It is possible the battery was just bad but I find it kind of unlikely.

I don't see how much juice the FordPass monitoring system could possibly use. All it does is transmit location every couple hours and tire pressure. Some people have cars with crazy alarm systems that flash LED lights everywhere and they can leave them parked for a month and the battery will start right up

So, I went to accept delivery of mine on Saturday and as I was pulling into the dealer, the salesman called me with bad news. Similar problem.

They had been prepping/servicing the vehicle pending my arrival. Had a few short start/stop sequences running it back and forth between departments, then all of a sudden (on a day that was about 10°F) it wouldn't start.

Here is where we ended up.. Maybe have them check it over more thorough.

One of the high voltage wires that powers (from what they told me, almost everything) had a bad Solder connection, causing the vehicle to not start on its own. They were able to get it started with a jump pack the same way you did. Seems like they didn't tin the wire adequately at the build plant, between normal operation and cold weather, it broke free. The o ly thing (barely) holding it together was some adhesive tape.

I'll have more word tomorrow morning after they attempt to to re-solder it. I'll update when I know more.

I thought the high voltage wires were covered in orange encasing? The black wires would be the 12v system right?

Damn, this is not the kind of stuff I want to hear or see from a new hybrid. Don't want to hear no excuse about the pressure those guys are under for getting these trucks out on time either. Clearly a quality control issue. I hope Ford will get this resolved by next summer. I'd rather wait a bit longer and give them time to build it right the first time.

Build issues can happen with a new model as well as something that's been produced for years. All these " I'm glad I'm waiting for issues "to get resolved" are living in a fantasy world. If there wasn't issues that had to be fixed in new vehicles there wouldn't be a warranty. My wife's 2020 Lexus has to go in to get a console replacement where the catch broke off....... I wish I had waited for Japan to get their quality control up ...... hahahahahaha A decal here, a bad wire there, a 12 volt battery even seen a transmission on this forum. - there will always be a certain percentage of parts that are defective and need replacement. Everything we have seen has been taken care of by Ford.

You're right. I am mistaken about it being a high voltage wire. Sorry about that. Either way, I hope this is the only spot with an issue.

Is that a ground wire for the 12V? Where is is located?

I'm not sure exactly where it's located yet. Once they give me an update on the progress of the repair this morning, I should have more info. All I have are the few photos the salesman sent me since I've been up his ass for an update.

From all the issues I've read about on this forum, seems like the build or design quality is not that good on these Mavericks. Being built under pressure so maybe that is an issue. Kind of glad mine is still not scheduled and might even be pushed to 2023. I drive a 2008 Ranger and have had no problems other than normal wear and tear. A hose, the alternator, and the thermostat is all that I've had to do unscheduled maintenance on for 260,000 miles. Could use a new muffler, but putting that off.

Yeah, reading all these different issues with Mav is giving me cold feet! Ive been a Toyota person for decades an d fortunate to have all great relatable, dependable vehicles. Im beginning to question my judgement with this truck.

Is it recommended to jump starter rear seat battery over the under hood posts? Does it matter?
