I'm wondering if anyone is considering body side mouldings to protect from door dings. I know its a must where I work as the parking spaces are very tight. I've seen the chunky block looking OEM ones that sit low on the door but thinking of thinner ones (like my 06 CRV) that a painted to match. any one have ideas or thoughts on this? Prefer stick on vs drilling the door.

I am looking for some body side moldings also for dent protection,. I've not found anything decent yet.

Door dings are definitely a problem and this looks like a good preventative measure. I'm not sure why the auto makers abandoned them a number of years ago. Perhaps someone can Photoshop those mouldings onto the Maverick so we can see how it affects the body lines.

I used to have some thin magnet ones that you install when parked in a risky spot. You remove prior to driving.
They did result in slight scratches from going on and off though.

I'm interested in exactly what you describe. The ones I've seen so far for the Maverick are kind of wide and sit low, too close to the bottom plastic trim in my opinion. I'd love to have something more subtle and body colored.

Because "body side moldings" only protect if the other door hits the exact spot where they are positioned.

A lot of other vehicles are either taller or shorter than your vehicle so the other's door hits your door above or below the body side molding dinging the paint.

On the wife's 2009 Honda CR-V many door dings can be seen above and below the body side molding.

Over time I've noticed door dings in cars that I have owned getting dings from the rear doors of vehicles where the sharp corner of the door over the wheel well hits high above where the protection strip is located on a car. This happens when kids in the rear seats swing the door open to get out. People squeeze into parking spots, without caring about others.

Very true. Kids don't care. I'm thinking of wrapping my Mav in rubber ... sort of like the batmobile when the bat parks it.

Exactly. So many different vehicles with so many different door positions make it next to impossible to armor up one's vehicle to prevent the door dings. Best thing is to try to park away from the crowd. Better ... make door edge guards standard on every vehicle.

Is this something like what you are thinking of?
GENUINE FORD DOOR MOLDING BY AIR DESIGN SATIN BLACK

I've looked at those and they're placed too low to protect your door on from most vehicles. Most doors are curved in so the middle will likely ding your door first. I'm not sure on how thick they are though.

The best those would do is prevent road debrid/dust/etc, from kicking from the road onto the vehicle. Mudflaps would provide the main protection with the door moldings providing additional protection.

I call them shopping cart6 strips and had them installed on my past two new Fords. The place I used nicked up my paint on the last install so I'll be looking around for some velocity blue ones from a different shop in July.

I like the strips midway to catch carts, other car doors and related things from denting my four doors.

Yes, I am interested in thin ones made for Maverick as well, sitting at about mid-door like your photo. Please inform me if anyone finds something like this for Mavericks. Thanks
