Picked up my maverick lariat in October of 2021, 9/13 build. So far, I’ve found the following issues, so I will try to document the process to fix and also provide insight to anyone else who might find these:
1. Weld on drivers side of bed: this is a pretty well known one, mine is covered In paint but the weld does not look good. Located under the rear window drivers side.
2. gas tank - recall, so I didn’t find it, but being a 9/13 build I will need to get it checked as I have the spray in from the luxury package.
3. heated mirrors -had some snow/ice, noticed the passenger mirror cleaning up nicely but not drivers side. Passenger is decently warm to touch but drivers is not.
4. pinch welds - after seeing another thread here, looked at my pinch welds under the truck. I also have missing paint and some surface rust starting there, as well as two other holes under the truck. One other spot looks suspect but should be easy to repair if so. Being in Ohio and seeing salt, these are the biggest concerns for me.
I was going to wait on the mirror for my oil change (and still might). For the weld on the bed I was going to let it go, I had similar things I noticed on my old focus st and after 4 years it never got worse or changed since it was painted and sealed. Just doesn’t look great.
the rust I will be following up with ford today to see the course of action, as this has been fixed under warranty for others. When I get home today I will update with pictures.
