We ordered a Hybrid with Lariat trim just for the dual climate. Wife and I like radically different temps. The auto in our Honda minivans seems about 63 is a good temp. Which is funny because in the house we like 68ish.

Hybrid XL - so far setting mine to "Auto" and "70" is working perfectly.
Unfortunately for me if I sent mine temp to 70° its a sauna.

It was 45 degrees on my last trip to a nearby town 30 miles away. I set temp at 72, fan on second light. set control on window and feet, was just right all the way there and back. recirculation was on. Seemed to work much like my Prius.

I range from 66-69 F on low Auto for my happy temp. I also keep the house the same temperature or roughly in that range so it's consistent. Seems to work fine for me without feeling like a sauna. I also don't go into the truck with 4 layers on either during winter :).

Hi,

I received my ford maverick lariat lux package this past week. This is my first new ford vehicle. I have no prior ford temp control experience. I drove it on an 8 hour trip yesterday. The outside driving temperate was about 30 degrees F. I had to set the interior temp control on 63 degrees in order to feel remotely comfortable. I was wearing a tshirt and light jacket. As soon as I would adjust the temp up to say 67. I would be getting "Warm/ hot" air blowing. On my prior car a 2015 VW jetta when adjusting the temp control it would never be that drastic of a change. I called two local ford dealers and described the situation and did not really take it serious. Is this how Ford temp control should operate or does this sound like an issue?

It doesn't make sense to me that driving around in 30 degree temps outside I would need to have my cars temp set to below 65 degrees to feel remotely comfortable.
Silly question but you do have it in auto, correct?

Not a silly question. I was on a 8 hour drive when this occurred and only stopped twice for gas and a snack. I tried it with Auto and in manual temp control with the same results. Could you give me insight regarding your question? Just trying to understand others logic that I may not have thought of

I wish I could give you my real world advice but I probably won't get my Maverick until Spring at the earliest. That said, if I don't have the A/C control in "Auto" on my Subaru it won't maintain my setpoint of 70°. It'll just keep cranking away at whatever my manual settings of fan speed are.

I've never owned a vehicle with a visual readout for interior temp adjustment (even our 2018 F-150) which I'm assuming you all have since you are so precise on exact numbers and ranges here. I only recently experienced it test driving a new Edge that had the big touchscreen and didn't like it. I have always just gone by feel. Cold? Turn the heat control knob up a little and see how it feels and vice versa. I also tend to use dashboard vents to adjust direct streams or open/close as needed and also high/low splits. It's unrealistic to think 30 degrees outside wearing T-Shirt and shorts can be compensated for inside so you never have to add or remove clothing for comfort. Same with dressing in layers for cold outside and thinking you won't need to shed any when driving to get your temp just right. My advice is Stop looking at the visual readout trying for sweet spots and just go by feel. Old School but totally effective. YMMV

I turn the temp knob to where I'm comfortable. What the number is that day is incidental.
^ This! ^

As the engineer in the earlier post indicated, there are so many variables in a vehicle, I don't even want to think of that control loop.

I've seen tire pressures increase on the corner or side getting the most sun.

Instead of an absolute direct readout of temperature, I prefer the classic red-blue (warm/cool) knob and adjust accordingly for comfort. As you said, the temp knob can be treated as such, ignoring the readout.

I don't have my truck but it does sound as if this is an issue. Even ones that say go by feel, this would like putting the dial on the blue part of the red/blue indicator of yester years. In the winter it shouldnt do this and needs to be addressed. This also might cause issues in the summer when 63 is blowing warm air instead of cold. You might be losing out the full cold output.

It might be a simple software calibration or a bad sensor but would not be living with this.

Thank you for your comments. I would agree. if continued this would definitely be a bigger issue in summer or if I lived currently in a hot climate. I have a service appointment set. Its cover bumper to bumper 36K so I want a ford dealer to verify that the system is or is not working properly.

Sorry to say folks, but you're going to have the same (opposite) problem in summer. Every other car I've been in with auto climate control was reasonable comfortable when set around 71 - summer or winter. My XLT hybrid, when set to 71 is unbearable hot in cold temps and so cold in hot temps that its un usable. I find i have to have mine set at around 63 in cold temps and 78 in warm temps. It's totally wrong. Dealer is no help at all.

I have a lariat with the dual climate. I've experienced 4 seasons with it now, and always leave the HVAC on auto and set between 68 and 72. I'm always perfectly comfortable
