l took delivery of my Maverick XL 2.0L AWD about 1 month ago. I bought a dealer ordered XL that was ”in transit” to the dealer. I did not have any input on the options. I noticed that I did not have the “full size spare”, equipped with the donut. I asked the salesman if he could order a full size spare for me. He got back to me the next day telling me that after speaking with the parts manager it would be $908. He sent me a proposed invoice:
NZ6Z-1015-A (Wheel Assembly) $709.29
9L3Z-1700-A (Kit Valve) $18.99
9002-1549936-0000 (225/65R17) $129
TOTAL-$908.71
I assumed, as did the salesman that the “wheel assembly” was the cantilevered bracket the spare attached to. I find it surprising that you could not just swap out the donut for a full size spare……maybe you just can. Not really a priority, I have only needed a spare 2Xs in 40 years of driving. The donut was sufficient and will still be.
