I saw a similar video. It was one of those random images with a computerized voiceover, which is always annoying and why having a dislike count on YouTube is a good thing…

A GM competitor is objectively a good thing. Competition in the marketplace will lead to better and more diverse products for the consumer. That said, the Maverick does three things right: price, fuel efficiency, and size. If GM puts out a small truck that is competitive in those areas, Ford will have market pressures to keep the price low, develop better hybrid and electric technology, and do more fun things with the size.

All that said if it looks like this, I’m not worried for Ford.

What was wrong with the Chevy SSR was not that it was a truck/car it's because it was an ugly as hell PT Cruiser/El Camino love child that should have been aborted after the first sketch.

I would be stoked to see this market grow. But Chevy could kill the whole vibe with their design department.

OMG! . . . . What the HELL are they thinking? I wouldn't be caught dead (or alive) in that thing. That's an image that's going to be hard for me to get out of my head. I was a GM guy most of my life and in fact, the Maverick will be my first Ford.

The only truck I think that can compete with the Maverick is if KIA sizes and prices the Telluride Truck in line with Ford. The styling is certainly there for me. Not to mention the 10 year 100,000 mile warranty.

Great idea, but clearly no where near the price point of the Maverick, not even a loaded lariat. It would be inline of a loaded Ranger or Mid range F150…. Key though would be MPG’s because all cars and trucks built since Maverick will be compared to … drum roll here….. The Maverick. Ford needs only to produce AWD Maverick Hybrid and there would be a chicken in every pot, and a Maverick in every garage.

Just my opinion on this: So lets say there was a tree and this tree was call the horrific ugly tree.
This GM Montanan looks like it fell from the top of the tree and hit every branch on the way down then climbed back up and did it all over again. At best it looks like a cheap women's slipper with flip down wheels. I think that it will be NO competition for the Maverick. I think the only thing missing from the Maverick is #1. Navigation (I have a Escape with Nav and its very good) #2. The full blown copilot 360 including adaptive cruise available on all trim packages. That's just my thoughts, the Nav in my Escape is very very good and simple to use. The design of the Maverick just shows why Ford dominates the truck market. I also think the redesign of the Ranger is a very good move. Ford truck engineers are right over the target.
Copilot 360 DOES NOT include adaptive cruise. That is a Lariat only feature.

Eye-Eye Captain . . . . you're right but I did say "if". That Kia has been in the making for a couple of years so it most likely will come in the next year or so. Yes, it would be the Maverick buyers looking at the higher end Lariat and those that can't get a few things Ford doesn't or won't offer. Those would be the buyers Ford loses and you're correct, the price will be higher. The question will be, how much? Bottom line is GM could put a built-in bar with a blender in that Montana and I still wouldn't buy it for half the price of the Base Maverick.

When you look at images of the Montana, it is more similar in design to the Santa Cruz. Can't say I am really a fan. I think the truckish image of the Maverick is a large part of it's appeal. Montana is also a 2 door.

Lots of trucks like this in Colombia and Brazil (I presume all of SA)... this is quite ugly!!

OMG is that butt ugly.

It looks like someone took a SUV and just chopped off half of the back seat and the rear storage to put a bed in.

This even makes the Santa Cruz look good and that is saying something.
