Just saw a video regarding a possible new Chevrolet compact truck. There is speculation that the new truck will initially be produced for countries south of the border. Looks to be a Maverick competitor.

Jesus!! That is as shitty looking as that ram/fiat monstrosityWhen you look at images of the Montana, it is more similar in design to the Santa Cruz. Can't say I am really a fan. I think the truckish image of the Maverick is a large part of it's appeal. Montana is also a 2 door.

yep, and the reason they are not sold in North America is they don't conform with US safety or smog regulations. It would need to be extensively redesigned which would make it far more costly to build- and that likely kills any internal discussions about viability for US markets. They all are Fugly design too IMO and would sell about as well as the Smart 4 Two did in America. Priorities and preferences are different between NA and SA buyers.Lots of trucks like this have already been in Mexico for some time-
yep, think Renegade or Patriot platform for Stellantis and Yaris or Corrolla for Toyota. That will NOT be the vehicle or basis for the vehicle that GM will bring out as competition if they want success. It's a 2 door, 3 cylinder, extremely cheaply built vehicle for South and Central America. That's more comparable to the soon to be discontinued Ford EcoSport . A dud.
Truly expect them, Chrysler, Toyota to launch vehicles by 2025 model year that are similar to the Mav, built off an existing platform, using existing technologies. A parts bin vehicle can be brought to market sooner than a brand new idea.
Yeah they all looked like tin-cans - lolyep, and the reason they are not sold in North America is they don't conform with US safety or smog regulations.
