How difficult would it be to add a receptacle in the bed like the lux has? I am getting the Inverter in the cab but it would be nice to have one in the bed too

wondering if the inverter would have a way to come off it with some tray cable and put a weather proof receptacle in the bed cubby door

It would be nice but I'm not sure the juice is worth the squeeze. Pretty sure both outlets work off the same inverter so if you could find the actual inverter unit and see if it has an open connector, it would be a snap provided you can get the correct parts from the dealer. Otherwise it really shouldn't be difficult to splice into the wiring to connect the second outlet.

Unless you have an application that requires 400 watts, you could just use the 12v accessory wiring in the bed to wire up a 12v outlet then plug an inverter into that as needed. You can get about 240 watts out of that which is enough for most small things like lights or electronics.

But then you're buying an inverter - if you could splice into the existing inverter (or simply hook up if a connection is available as you say) you're only paying for a cable and you get the full 400W.

I'm waiting on my XL w/ in-cab outlet and so I'm planning on doing this exact project as well.

i have been trying to find something that shows where the inverter is or looking at ford parts to see the inverter but i havent found it yet. when i get the truck maybe then it will be easier to trace it. hopefully i can find a diagram or part schematic or something in the mean time.

Wish I could remember where I saw it (could have been YouTube vid or a post either here or reddit) but someone showed it behind the backseat on driver's side. Could only see that it was a black rectangular box bolted to the back wall of the cab, couldn't see any hookup details. There's also a chance that they were incorrect and that it's not even the inverter, but it likely is.

Edit: found this. Looks like jury is still out.

Jury is still out as no one has yet found where the inverter is mounted.

On my Maverick Hybrid with the console mounted 120V/400W outlet there are no modules behind the back seat. That means the inverter is mounted somewhere else.
