I understand that you might be ok with the added noise, but how about your neighbors, or anyone else living close to any neighborhood roads? How old are you anyway? This is one of the most immature posts I have ever read on this site! Grow up!

I think it sounds pretty good. Haters gonna hate.

FWIW- I'm 41, married with kids, live in a quiet suburban neighborhood. My "other car" is a built Fox Mustang that I have unintentionally set off my neighbor's car alarm multiple times with the exhaust. :ROFLMAO: Some of the folks in this thread would hate me, too. :D

edit - lumpy cam V8 sound for the youngsters fyi….

Tell you the truth, I got a bit excited! Stock mufflers on a GTO have the greatest sound ever designed by an engineer.

Daniel, one more time, since it’s apparently not sticking: this is a TEST. I said that in the very first post of the thread. Read it. I’m driving it a week and then putting a quieter muffler on it. That was the whole point from line one.

The neighbor question also already got answered in another response. I idle out of the street, I don’t rev at cold start, and I’m actively testing quieter mufflers. That’s the opposite of not caring about the people around me.

And on the noise itself, the mic was RIGHT next to the pipe. Of course it sounds loud in the clip. That’s not how it sounds standing in a driveway or sitting in the cab. It’s louder than stock, sure. It is not a freight train running past your front door. If you’re basing “most immature post ever” on a recording shot six inches from the tailpipe, that’s on you, not on me or the truck.

As for the age and maturity stuff, that’s not an argument. It’s just you being annoyed that someone did something you wouldn’t. That’s fine, you don’t have to like it. But “grow up” isn’t a rebuttal to anything I actually said.

If you’ve got real data on the Super 10 vs Super 40 vs Magnaflow for toning it down, I’m all ears, that’s what the thread is for. Otherwise we can just agree your comment doesn’t add value and wasn’t needed.

I’m done relitigating a test I already explained.And for any reference, I’m nearly 50

Ha, appreciate it, man. And yeah, I’m 48, married, same deal, quiet neighborhood, not out here trying to rattle windows at 6 AM. Funny how the guys throwing “immature” around are the ones who can’t just let somebody enjoy their truck without a lecture.

A built Fox setting off car alarms is exactly the kind of thing this thread needed, thank you for that. You’d fit right in with the “menaces to society” apparently.

Some people just want to hear themselves complain. I think it sounds good, I’m testing quieter mufflers anyway, and the world keeps turning. Haters gonna hate. 🤘

Was shopping for a new exhaust (aFe, MBRP, others) when I figured I would try this first (muffler delete, keep resonator) and drive it for a couple weeks and see how I like it. For reference, I run straight pipes on moto so I'm ok with 'noise' 😜

At 2,000 rpm and under, on the street or cruising the freeway at 60+ without AC or radio, you hear the exhaust but I wouldn't call it a drone. Cruising at 70 mph, which is under 2,000 rpm, the drone is minimal, and that's with no AC and no radio. Road noise already drowns out some of it. It's audible, but you have to listen for it rather than it just being there.

Cold start is a little louder. I'll have to test in the early mornings to see if I really wake the neighbors, but I'm not the type to rev at sunrise. I can idle out of the street. Sound at cruising is a little lower in eco mode, more pronounced in sport mode, but revving and driving is where you really hear it.

I've driven V8s, my open-pipe moto, and 'rice bangers,' and this tone is actually good. It doesn't sound fart-can-like, and I think it sounds fine for a 4cyl mini truck.

I 'tested' the Flowmaster Super 10 and Super 40, but only at idle and with the truck parked, so I couldn't really tell a difference. I'd have to actually drive it with the Super 10, Super 40, or a Magnaflow if I want to tone the noise down.
ok updated the exhaust, after running straight pipe for about a week it sounded great at idle and cruising but acceleration was too raspy and for lack of better word, refined .

Added a Magnaflow with a side exit just in front of the right rear tire. Sounds great, low grumble, more controlled/refined on acceleration and no drone.

That sounds great and the truck looks good, too. Need some video with revs and takeoff/acceleration!

Is your sound clip straight piped with OEM resonator? And aftermarket exhaust tips?

When I removed my stock exhaust/muffler to install a catback - I started my EB in the garage. Straight piped from a couple feet behind catalytic converter. I was pleasantly surprised by the sound. Not a lumpy cam V8 mind you - but a highly tuned 4cyl turbo:) Not as loud as I was expecting and not unpleasant. The catback sounded worse & I had to modify it;)

edit - lumpy cam V8 sound for the youngsters fyi….

i am plenty old enough that big block noise gives me a bit of a chubby. in my opinion, nothing can be done to make a maverick, or any small turbo engine, sound good. obviously, opinions vary :)

Here’s the temporary spot. It’s it’s moving into a cutout in the rear opposite the license plate or out the side under rear passenger door
