$15 Muffler delete Sound Test DIY (Love the sound)

Because why pay an exhaust shop just to find out you don't like the sound of the muffler delete just to have to go back and pay them again to undo it? Do you like wasting money? This is a test to see if you like the sound and actually want to go through with the muffler delete. If you don't either buy an aftermarket or have a shop weld the muffler back in. I don't know if you know this but exhaust sounds don't sound quite the same over video as they do in real life.



Yes if there was a catastrophic failure and I really needed the warranty to make the repairs I would go as far as to buy a stock exhaust an replace the whole thing, wouldn't want the dealer seeing the weld marks around the muffler.

Warning, if you live in New York State it is illegal to modify your exhaust. When getting it inspected you will fail (assuming a competent inspector).

Sounds as expected. Terrible and more terrible on a 4 cylinder engine. Don’t ever do this people without a V8. You might like it but everyone else will think it’s ridiculous or lie to you.

For those that have a tough time reading:

*This is to find out if you like the sound of your exhaust with a muffler delete*

So after not finding anyone with sound clips of just a muffler delete and not wanting to use a shop in case I didnt like the sound and just bought an exhaust anyways, I took it upon myself to do a DIY muffler delete and in my opinion it turned out great.

Things you need:
$50 tail pipe cutter rental from autozone (you get your money back when you return it )
$10 2 3/8in Flex Exhaust Repair
$5 2 1/2in I.D. x 2 1/4in O.D. Adapter

Step 1:
Use the cutters to remove the muffler, I suggest going as close to the muffler as the cutter will allow. The flex pipe you get is only 18 inches long annd the cut I made was about 20 inches hence the need for the coupler to extend it. took about 110-15 minutes with the hardest part actually being removing the muffler from the dang hanger lol

Step 2:
insert the 2 1/4 end of the coupler into the 2 3/8 flex pipe, this was a little tight of a squeeze so a few taps of the 2lb sled hammer got it in

Step 3:

Slide the coupler side over one end of the cut pipes (I choose the engine side) and the flex pipe over the other end and use the clamp to secure. Make the distance between the two end s of the cut pipes as short as possible to avoid any sagging. Just to help I used steel braided wire I had laying around from an old frame to adjust the the height of the pipe to best match the stock set up.

In the end im very glad I did this just to make sure I would like the sound, and I love it, and now that I know I like the sound Ill head on down to my local shop and have them weld in a pipe so I dont have to worry about anything coming apart during a bumpy trip.

Hope this helps people decide on muffler deletes, whether its for or against I dont care!

That'd actually be preferred for me, my company makes us park in a garage across the parking lot UNLESS you don't have the clearance. Then you can park right up to the building haha.

That it does, but I don't mind the sound of a 4 banger exhaust. Started with a Lancer, moved to a super charged Mini, and now my Mavy.

You do know tampering with the exhaust system is an Federal EPA violation... then positing publicly on the internet. The feds are looking for violators to justify their cushy jobs. Shooting fish in a barrel.. Smart move. I think the fine is $10,000 and your not Hunter..

Hunter S. Thompson would have just run with the whole exhaust cut off and had a gigantic guitar amplifier in the bed playing acid rock turned up to 11 to cover up the noise.
