No question for myself, Maverick all the way! Some of the reasons listed above as to why some like/love the Ridgeline are the same reasons I don't like them 🤷‍♂️ to each their own tho. As I don't have kids or dogs riding in the back I'm perfectly fine with the backseat set up in the Maverick. I also have a cap so I have a secured area for the bed items. I shopped all the medium/little trucks when I was looking at the Mavericks but for me the RL was never in the equation. That's just my preference tho. Everyone has their own needs and wants.
Kudos, I'm the same. Also if I wanted another vehicle I would buy it, not talk about it. Life is to short.

I concur. Sometimes seems like a lot of complaints rather than compliments with the Maverick. Which considering it's a Maverick chat surprises me. However it's exactly that, a chat. No hard feelings here, just can't help but show my love for the Maverick 😁 I've said it before, I more or less have been a GM guy, with a couple random Elantras in the mix lol but I'm completely impressed and surprised at my love for a Ford product. And I don't hate them, just never really shopped them before. I hope my Maverick lasts me a very long time and maybe I'll find another impressive Ford product when I do move on 👍 I suppose maybe because I came from "cheap" Hyundai's and outdated GM products that's why I'm loving the Mavs 🤷‍♂️

No, it's just a nice truck. I hope it lasts you a long time as well.

Damn, that's the one I really want, haha. I'll have to stick with what I have though, that's the discipline.

I think you will not see much more innovation or tricking the Mav. out from Ford in the flexbed. We can see that in the wild, one good smack in the rear bumper and it's a total loss. That's not a platform to spend energy on, IMO. I'm ok owning it, but I'm not going to be putting a ton into it with that flaw.

I love my mav, and yes I talk about flaws that it have, is part of life, believe me if I own a RL instead after the honeymoon phase I would be talking about those too.

I try to be as honest as possible, my point ? I have priorities on life and made and still making many decisions delayed gratification is one of them, at the time of me getting the mav my two cars broke at 6 months window, I spent close to 6k trying to fix it( tires +ac+insurance+ 2 engines rebuild etc) after all that I went with no my dream car or truck I went with something I like but could easily afford the payments, now days the goals are archived so I could switch to a lariat (that I freaking dying for) or a get a RL, but mav and the RL are close to get a 2nd Gen And if I get a new one now I would get stock with an old design that loss plenty of resale value and new electrics vehicles are on the horizon not far away. So no rush here.

2nd, I already have another project that if I go for gonna hold me down 2 or 3 years without changing vehicles. like I said before delayed gratification is the name of the game, I know life could be to short for so and so, but I'm a eternal planner, I used to live day by day now days I could see and plan years and even decades ahead. I know it might sounds crazy to many peoples, but that's the way I see and live now days.

Btw guy, we're just having fun and exchanging info and ideas here, not hard feelings or personalism from my part, I love this site and all the info and education I get from many of you guys, the day I went to the dealer to get my mav I knew more about it than the entire sale floor at the dealer and that's thanks to you guys. So my respect to the MTC community

I love the Maverick but a bigger battery and stronger electric motor to the hybrid system would improve fuel efficiency even more. I get 39-44 MPG regularly on that tiny battery. Or a full electric version. Just eliminate the ICE engine all together.
A plug in hybrid Maverick would be better than all electric. Drive 30-40 miles on all electric then the engine could kick on recharging like the current hybrid.

I rather a full electric, but a 60-80 miles ev range covers my daily needs for almost 29 out 30 days a month, and if I'm honest some times it could take months for driving more than 60 miles in a day, that's why I'm all in for EV's but your example make total sense for users like me.

We need a mad scientist with great technical skills that can make an conversion kit for the current hybrid to a plug in one, not way I would the 1st on line to try it, but after is a proven concept definitely would jump into (note I have a 2.0 EB), getting a hybrid xl awd and 4k package able to plug in charge would be a game changer.

Didn't Honda drop the Ridgeline ?
No, took a year off while they introduced new running gear and major body changes. Apparently the existing truck could not accept the new mechanical changes. It will come back in a year as tough competition for the Maverick.

FITS everywhere! Do we think that the new electric truck will have them? I really hope it’s not called a Ranchero.
The Maverick should have been the Ranchero. It would have made more sense than naming it after a midsize car from the 70s that my granpa owned.

I just got my 26 Hybrid XLT AWD a month or so ago. I got it after I claimed I would never get another ford after a horrible experience with a used certified ford escape (2013 I think).

I could not be happier. It really is an impressive vehicle and a marvel of design choices. The fit and finish does not hold a candle to my 2015 GMC canyon, but that is the point. They made compromises to get the cost down while being an effective truck.

I want to see them go harder in future versions with two features specifically. The FITS is an excellent concept. As a Bamboo X1 carbon owner, it’s sweet to see that I can print my own thing.

But it’s limited to underseat storage and rear seats. I wish they would bring the connector and give the dimensions for more things. Really embrace the DIY of the vehicle.

the flex bed is amazing. Even with a think spray on cover the dimensional lumber fits. They outdid themselves with the 12v and other features. I hope in the next generation of flexbed they go further, adding more storage compartments like the GMC canyon tailgate storage or the Honda Ridgeline under bed storage.

Really truly is an amazing truck. I just hope they make these features more outstanding and keep evolving them instead of being “done”.
I think Ford pretty well nailed it.

What would I change?

A two door extended cab with 6 ft bed would be nice.

A little more battery as well. Not a plug in with 40 mile range. That would be heavy and expensive. It would use up a lot of the Maverick's 1500 lb payload.

It have 1.1kW (I think). Weighs 88 lbs. Make it 2kw and beef up inverter a bit, giving it a little more EV only oomph.

Doing this would result in a lot more EV time. My only knock on EV only operation is that it's only good for extremely light duty. It will keep it rolling on level ground at 60, barely, for a short time.

Beyond that, not much. I would change the mode programming a bit. Eco should have ZERO regen while coasting. If I want regen, I will call for it with my right foot and left pedal.

My current solution is liberal use of the much maligned dial a gear knob. When coasting, one click left. Just gotta remember to click right when its time to go again.

I’ve only had mine since Saturday but so far very happy. The size, drive, gas mileage are all what I was hoping for. Every vehicle can be improved i guess but sales figures, especially the hybrid, says Ford has a winner.

Congrats on the truck, definitely is in my opinion an awesome small truck. I enjoy reading through your comments as well as some of the others. As unpopular as this is going to be, I am on the other side of the coin in that I don't want to see them add more and more features to the vehicle. One of the main selling points of the Maverick was that it was an affordable new vehicle. Adding higher towing capacity, or changing the interior components to a higher quality, etc., all would continue to add to the price. I built/ordered my Maverick in 2023, today if I ordered the same vehicle with as close to the same package/specs the price is quite a bit more already. I feel like that is kind of how trucks got to the point they are pricewise, it was always well let's add this feature, and that feature, etc. I think they should just keep the Maverick as more of that low frills, more entry level vehicle and for those that want all those other features and more of a traditional truck with higher tow capacity etc., I think ford should market the Ranger that way. Just my opinion. Congrats again on the purchase and enjoy the Maverick!

Maybe, I just hate the name “Ranchero.” I don’t like ranch dressing, but I do like the movie “Maverick” with Mel Gibson. Also, “Ranchero” reminds me of

I know it's obscure, but Ford has offered a car called the Mustang since April 17th, 1964.
I guess you can call a Mustang a car, but did you ever try to put 2 grown adults in the back seats? A Porsche 911 also has rear seats so it isn't considered a sports car! (less expensive to insure)
