Not everyone tows
No they don't but many have to. If you are an outdoorsman , farmer or putting in food plots it is a need. Not just a want.

I do agree not everyone use their vehicle to tow. Sometimes they have 2 vehicles one for towing and the second vehicle for wife or errands. Still that doesn't mean the vehicle should not be capable to tow.

Here is something no one has brought up. From what I have gathered Honda has manufactured the Ridgeline for 20 years without very much change or innovation simply cosmetis. The OP expresses he wants to see change on the EV and Maverick. No one has noticed Ford has continuely changed or added innovations in just a few years. Yes some just cosmetic but others like beefing ECVT, AWD in the hybrid, trailer hitch assist, trailer backup assist just the tremor or advanced AWD to name a few. Yes we all want to see some improvements I just think Ford is delivering on the Maverick.

On my case I love the maverick, but, but I love the look and functionality of the Ridgeline, the main problem is the fuel consumption, I talked to few ppl on person and they told me that they're in the 14-18mpg, so do I, I never been able to get 20mpg in my 2022 EB, but I barely hit the xpressway my drive is 90% local road with the stop and go all they long, the Ridgeline give 14-18 on combine escenarios, about the ground clearang I never scraped my maverick so I guess the RL is pretty close too.

The real seat area is mega clever, and the freaking bed is awesome, the Ridgeline is becoming a dinosaur with the same V6 and no incremental gains at all.

That said, If you give me for free both vehicles to pick one my head would xplode, but I think I might go for the RL.
I so agree with you about the Ridgeline and unfortunately, that's what I traded for my Maverick. It was top of the line but the 15 mpg was killing me in my job. The hybrid I got averages more ta than twice the mpg, but sure miss my Honda with speakers in the bed and the "trunk"

Hello and welcome to MTC. Congratulations with your new Maverick. Happy to hear you are enjoy your new truck.

Yes all manufacturers keep evolving or they die. Many car manufacturers have come and gone and those that survive evolve. Only thing is they don't need to follow designs that are not mainstream and have and will cause the demise of vehicle. So let's look at this.

That is the downfall of this truck. One they have to raise the bed limiting access or making it more difficult use (height). Next by limiting the bed height they reduced ground clearance. Ground clearance especially in a truck is crucial. We are not done, just a guess either you haven't owned a truck or used a truck as a truck, for how do you think you would get out the spare tire if you had rocks, sand etc in the bed of the truck. Also only enough room for a doughnut if you get the 4k trailer tow package on the Maverick do you understand why the conventional spare is included?

Last but not least every doctor that I have known and have heard always state do not lift with your back but with your knees. The cubby in the bed is an accident waiting to happen. Besides removing the option of using ones knees you have to lean over the bumper and use just your back. This is a ergonomic nightmare.

Not dissing the Ridgeline but they are not selling and I believe lack of ground clearance, no conventional spare, not able to access the spare if hauling or using the bed all has pushed truck buyers away. Of course I could be wrong but I wouldn't follow designs that make no sense or a deficit not a asset.

How about a picture of your new truck?
Not disrespecting you at all. I hope it don't come off that way. These are just my opinions.

Seems like you should have bought a Ranger or F150. The Maverick Hybrid is a great efficient and versatile vehicle. Most homeowners and truck buyers do not need, want or want to pay the extra cash for all these things you wish for in the Maverick. Most people don't Tow. Most people like the low bed height making it easier to reach in the bed off load and load. Most people don't need a full size bed. But need one bigger than the putrid Santa Cruz. Most people don't drive off-road. A lot of people take out mortgage to buy a full size F150 and never really utilize all of it's capabilities.
These are things that cause the price to go up. The Ridgeline is not fuel efficient and is expensive for what you get.

No I don't take it as disrespectful but a different just a different opinion .

No I shouldn't have bought a Ranger or a F150. Ford engineered , made, manufactured the Maverick as a truck. I'm an old geezer and many Fords under my belt Ford courier (Mazda), Ranger SC, Bronco I etc. the last 2 was a F150 SC 4x4 12 years 236,000 miles, F150 crew cab 4x4 both with trailer tow limited slip and traction lok axle. I can't remember the 97 but the 2009 was optional gear ratio for increased towing weight.

I disagree and I believe Ford does as well. Otherwise why would they offer towing as an option, the Tremor for off road etc. That's one thing Ford does right they make a great truck. Can not remember when the F series wasn't top dog or how many years straight taking number 1. For what they do offer on the Maverick I would guess it's why they are doing or selling so well.

I guess we agree to disagree. Just hope Ford continues to build great trucks and not cars. Oh that's right they don't make cars anymore. They manufacturer and sell SUV's and TRUCK's

I know it's obscure, but Ford has offered a car called the Mustang since April 17th, 1964.

Yep I stand corrected. Totally forgot, just remembered them discontinuing Taurus, Fiesta, Focus, Fusion, Thunderbird and before that the Crown Victoria and going to SUV or truck. Sorry totally forgot about the mustang. Thank you for the correction and reminding me. PS I appreciate it more than you realize

Just my 2 cents as always, I'm extremely happy with my Maverick XLT FX4 with the 4k tow. Are some things not "perfect"? Sure! If they were tho I wouldn't have been looking at them as the prices would have been far out of my reach. As it is, this is the most I've ever spent on any vehicle. I'm financing it for ever and a year but as many have said different strokes for different folks. I WILL keep this until it's paid off and then some. If I become independently wealthy and can pay it off sooner I absolutely will. As someone who never owned a truck, I have zero complaints or suggestions about it being a "better" truck. I never thought I'd tow anything but glad I opted for the 4k towing. Just this past weekend I rented a Uhaul trailer and I was very impressed with it's capabilities for my needs. Even fuel economy was great. I don't mind the "cheap" plastics on the inside, I do wish the paint was thicker tho as I already have several stone chips but it is a truck and it won't stay new forever. Love the looks, love the capabilities, the awd and turbo are sweet as I've never had those either. For me it's a win win!

I just got my 26 Hybrid XLT AWD a month or so ago. I got it after I claimed I would never get another ford after a horrible experience with a used certified ford escape (2013 I think).

I could not be happier. It really is an impressive vehicle and a marvel of design choices. The fit and finish does not hold a candle to my 2015 GMC canyon, but that is the point. They made compromises to get the cost down while being an effective truck.

I want to see them go harder in future versions with two features specifically. The FITS is an excellent concept. As a Bamboo X1 carbon owner, it’s sweet to see that I can print my own thing.

But it’s limited to underseat storage and rear seats. I wish they would bring the connector and give the dimensions for more things. Really embrace the DIY of the vehicle.

the flex bed is amazing. Even with a think spray on cover the dimensional lumber fits. They outdid themselves with the 12v and other features. I hope in the next generation of flexbed they go further, adding more storage compartments like the GMC canyon tailgate storage or the Honda Ridgeline under bed storage.

Really truly is an amazing truck. I just hope they make these features more outstanding and keep evolving them instead of being “done”.
how about a slide out bed extender tray that would let you extend the back end by another 3-4 feet? Be great for longer things like a kayak or longer wood products.

I love the Maverick but a bigger battery and stronger electric motor to the hybrid system would improve fuel efficiency even more. I get 39-44 MPG regularly on that tiny battery. Or a full electric version. Just eliminate the ICE engine all together.

Harder on the bed? Like a Sleep Number Bed?

Don't do it! We wasted the money on a sleep number, we hate it 😒 🤣 although beds are just like everything else...to each their own 🤷‍♂️
