I would definitely consider the hybrid now that it has the 4K tow package available. But, the fun-to-drive quotient has always been important to me, and I find the Ecoboost considerably more fun to drive. So, where the Ecoboost was a no-brainer for 2024, it would be a more difficult decision if I were to buy a new one.
What do you find about the EcoBoost more fun to drive than a hybrid?
Would that change now since the hybrid seems to have better numbers?

The power. Try flooring a hybrid to pass someone on a 2-lane highway at 50 mph, then do the same in the Ecoboost. To me, it's a completely different experience. There's also the ability to increase horsepower dramatically with modifications and a tune.

Addressing your screenshot...the Ecoboost is still very nearly 1 second quicker to 60 than the hybrid, but I don't care so much about the difference off the line.

Got it.
I didn't look up a Lobo. I didn't think they they have a hybrid Lobo.

They don't, but the Lobo isn't dramatically quicker or faster than the regular Ecoboost. It's the other things you're paying for there--sportier suspension, bigger brakes, paddle shifters, etc. It would be even more fun to me, but to me the practicality of the 4K package outweighs the difference in that case. You can't have a Lobo with 4K.

I appreciate the FX4 package and the practicality it offers as well, and that might keep me in an Ecoboost.

Another EcoBoost as it makes the most sense for me.

I feel Ford is shooting themselves in the foot with this new mini EV, IMHO it is going to steal most of the hybrid sales of the Maverick. Instead we should be looking forward to a PHEV Maverick with good initial electric range. A PHEV Maverick would sell like hotcakes, hell I would consider one for sure.

Agreed,
I guess losing 19 BILLION DOLLARS on
the F-150 Lightning wasn't Enough for Ford 🤷‍♂️
Now they're going see how much they can lose on the next EV.
Reminds me of a saying.

My AWD Lariat Ecoboost treats me very well,
Gives me a warm cabin fast in the winter.
Gives me excellent power delivery for my spirited driving style.
I only drive about 13,000 miles a year and live in the mountains.
I am fortunate enough that currently gas prices are not a problem for me.

Gas goes over $6 or $7 a gallon even the Mavbrid won’t help much up here.

I’ll buy another Ecoboost.

Could I ask why? Is it just a unwilling to try a new thing/comfort of using what you have had before? Cause I have heard this a lot more then I thought I would be lots of people feel this way.

I do think a plug in maverick would be great! but I think this full EV is a competition to tesla and less to make people go EV. I think they are just trying to keep ford owners from going to tesla and instead trying to leverage their current family. I know some people who would rather have a slight less refined ford EV then a tesla(Myself included).

If I was buying today: hybrid AWD w/ 4k tow package. At the time I bought you could only get AWD and tow package on the EB model. AWD is a necessity for me because of the area I live. I really wanted a hybrid but I just couldn't sacrifice the AWD and tow package to get it. Shortly after I bought my Mav I learned the 2025+ models had the option for hybrid AWD with towing. Been slapping myself ever since. I'm still happy with my purchase and intend to keep it until it dies. A paid off EcoBoost will always be cheaper than a hybrid with a monthly payment.

Honestly curious after a few years of ownership now…

If you were buying a Maverick again tomorrow, would you still go Hybrid or would you switch to EcoBoost?
I have had a 2022 Maverick XLT Hybrid Maverick and a current 2023 Maverick XLT Hybrid and am not buying tomorrow but next year.

And that purchase will be the EV Ranchero Mid-Size Truck.

Ranchero Forum

Gas prices here in the Dallas area have just topped over $4 a gallon. The Shell station near me is charging $4.29.
