Any Chinese Car sold in the US Market would by definition, have to meet US Safety Standards. Your argument using safety is a non-starter here.
Which is why none are sold here.

2.0 Ecoboosts in the Maverick are made in Valencia, Spain.
Yes some 2.0 EB were but I'm not sure how to determine the engine plant. The previous 2.0 EB was produced in Valencia, Spain and in Cleveland, Ohio. From what I understand the 2025 - 2026+ models are now produced only in the Dearborn Engine Plant in Michigan. At least that my understanding.

The "Redesigned" 2.0L are made in the USA.

There was a thread a few years back. Explaining where to look on the block. Top Front (Engine Front - leftside when looking at engine from grille).

My late, late. Late 2022 Eco has a Valencia motor...

good gracious you should how cheap the Wally worlds are on big screen tvs now(unreal)
Both Walmart and Sam's Club have incredible TV prices. You can get a new 2026 version 86" TV for something like $7-800, and less if they have a great short-term sale. Our main TV is a 75" and it is plenty, but I have to admit the 86" one has me interested.

Yeah, the Kroger thing is definitely the craziest playground, chest thumping, silliness I’ve read on here for a while. I mean, really? You two are fighting about who has a better grocery store.
It’s a good time to put down the keyboard.
Nah, it was an amusing sidelight. And it had relevance when I initially brought it up since it was about a gas program that made EVs, and their higher sticker price, not financially attractive for me versus the Mav hybrid. It then devolved into an attack on Kroger itself by another individual, which I couldn't let slide :)

Yep I recall seeing an old thread on the subject, seems like it described how to tell which plant the previous versions were produced in

Look at the white sticker with the codes at the end of the cam/valve cover for the plant code. VEP is the code for Valencia Engine Plant. Fair enough, it could very well be that 2025+ is no longer made there, but earlier ones certainly were, including my '24.

Dearborn Engine Plant doesn't produce 2.0 Ecoboosts though, if they're made in the US, they came from Cleveland.

Is it the end of the 2.0l ecoboost engine?!
If it is I’ll drive my 2024 Eco into the ground and buy an F-150 with a Gas engine.
My 2013 F-150 had the very powerful 3.7 got 19 mpg in town and 23 on the Superslab.

It's every freaking time man. It's pretty ridiculous that it always devolves like that. Like I could see the bashing and politics if we were discussing unpopular government policy or something. But the fact that it'll just be stories like "Look at this cool EV" and it still devolves into a clusterfuck is frustrating.

I don't care about the politics around some EV stuff. This is about a badass product, and EV or not, this truck is sounding pretty badass.
This why I rarely check out the forums anymore. I like the exchange of information. It’s the know-it-alls that I can do without. And there’s always a few of them on any forum and they seem to be the ones that post the most.

When Ford comes out with a PHEV Maverick, I will immediately put in my order.
I love EV, but don’t love the fact that I need to be on a virtual tether to the charging stations and long charge cycles. Even if a full charge only takes 20mins, I’m not a player…. Bring on the Super Capacitor / solid state batteries that charge in moments vs minutes…

I was not opposed to Chinese EV’s until I found out about their gov’t subsidizes

Chinese cars are cheap because their government subsidized the cost. For that reason, how can American companies (and other foreign companies) compete against that.

When we talk about a 20k Chinese EV, we are not comparing apples to apples. And for those reasons, I am now fully in support of our gov’t banning Chinese EV’s I don’t think anyone wants our government to start paying Ford to produce EV’s.

In some ways they did with the 30% tax break and while we all loved it, it was a federal subsidy.

Bob
This is nothing new. The Chinese government owns Chinese companies and subsidizes them. It is deliberate to undermine US companies. I believe Japan was doing the same thing in the early 70's and helped them gain a foothold in the US. Quality and poor management impact aside, it helps when you don't need to worry about profit to produce something.

Back on subject, I agree that EV’s are our future but it’s taking Americans longer to get over their petroleum habits. Our current Cheeto caused gas crisis is a very good example of why we should be very wary of one dominant source of power.

Bob- I like all grocery stores- Zimmerman
We recently had high gas prices before for YEARS (not a couple months) at a time because of regulatory policy. In 2022 when the minor incursion of Russia into Ukraine occurred, a gallon of regular gas spiked to about $5.00/gallon in the mid-Atlantic region. In 2012, the average annual price of gas was about $3.64/gallon, due to energy policy. Adjusted for inflation, that would be about $5.25/gallon - reportedly not a big deal.

Why would anyone use superchargers unless on a longer or poorly planned trip? Sleep on it… slow charge… then sell it 🤗
