My main complaint with several 12v plug in compressors I have had in the past is once they are used and then stored. The condensation or whatever causes them to freeze and not work after being stored
We'll take that back to the team. Thanks for weighing in!

I bought the Ryobi pistol grip inflator at least 5+ years ago for inflating bike tires. Then I bought a new hose on Amazon that had a Presta and Schrader head on it for quick, simple attachments to my bicycle and my car. The new hose fit perfectly on the pump. It is one of the most useful tools I have. i don't want to have to plug in an inflator because I use it all the time. I have so many Ryobi batteries, that I keep one on the pump all the time. The 2-amp battery lasts for many inflations.

My "pistol grip" Ryobi's hose I getting worn so I am going to replace it soon. I'll look on Amazon. My BIL has a battery adapter which allows him to use 20v batteries on some of his 18v tools, says the run better. I have resisted doing such.

My Ryobi is great. I plug my 4AH battery in it and can top off both vehicles several times before the battery drops even one bar of charge.
It’s fast, powerful and consistent with the digital pressure reading. But !
It consistently reads One psi higher than my trusted digital gage by Topeak.

$39 at Home Desperation.

Thanks for the post.
Your pic reminded me that I have a Ryobi One Plus 18 volt battery for a weed eater I don't use anymore, which makes this inflator an inexpensive option.

The small USB charged inflator I've got just takes way too long the pump up the 17's on the Mav, so I'll relegate it for motorcycle duty.
Thanks Again!

Here is your benchmark:

Dang! That's a beast.
I'm sure it puts out a lot of air, but looks to be a bit much for carrying around in the vehicle.
Amazon sells that for $200 without the battery and charger... Just a bit pricey...

Generally with tools, you get what you pay for. I have a lot of 18V Makitas, so commonizing is smart use of batteries & chargers.

It fits perfectly in the cubby under the rear seat of the Mav, and in my cargo bin in the Bronco. Like I said earlier, when you're refilling 35" tires, you need something with some ass, unless you wanna sit there for an hour. 🤠

But he’s inflating big tires so that one makes sense for his application.

Looks bigger in the pic..
Sounds like it works for you, but I don't have Makita batteries nor 35" tires, but I have a Ryobi battery.
EDIT:
As far as tool quality goes, Makita and Ryobi both have 3 year warranties, and while Makita tools may be theoretically better, they are also considerably more expensive.
In this case $39 vs $200. Are they 5 times better? In casual use I don't see the value proposition.

I'm satisfied with my Stanley compressor/ jump starter.
I use the compressor a couple times a year.
I only carry it if I'm heading out on a trip.

I have a 110v/12v Kobalt inflator. I prefer the 110v option because the 12v plug gets too hot after airing up all four tires. While I'm not sure if it has a longer duty cycle, it certainly feels like it. I think the (perceived) longer duty cycle is due to the 110v plug/cord not getting hot, and the housing shields the compressor heat. My old 12v compressor motor and plug used to get so hot that I could only air up two tires at a time, and I was worried about putting it away. With the Kobalt's larger case, I can't feel any heat, and I'm comfortable putting it back in the truck as soon as I'm done. It also automatically shuts off at the set PSI, which is great. The only downside is that it's a bit bulky, but I'm okay with that because I don't worry about heat buildup. I'm sure the internal pump is similar to other pumps, but the Kobalt is built better overall.

Edit: I missed the fact that you were asking about cordless inflators. I guess you can still use all the above information to understand why I will probably not buy a cordless one. I use it to bring all four tires from 15-20psi back to 35 psi. Speed and duty cycle are more important to me than being cordless. A cordless one that could do all four tires as fast as my little 110v one can would likely require a large battery and be too expensive for me.

One that doubles as a jump pack. Seldom need either, but it's two pieces of equipment.

I have one of the USB-rechargeable tire inflators that is the size of a large maglite. Stores easily in the glovebox. Can inflate two tires easily.
My biggest pet peeve, is that hose is too short. If the tire is rotated such that the valve stem is half-way up or higher on the rim, the hose/inflator doesn't reach the ground and dangles in mid air. I'd prefer a longer hose so the inflator will rest on the ground no matter how large the tire, or where the valve stem is positioned.

I don't know how common this feature is, but I love my dual-cylinder inflator. It's several years old now and doesn't seem to be available any longer but Amazon has similar inflators that are current.

It fits nicely in a small tool bag and has come in handy - mostly for others - many times. I don't mind plugging it into the 12v plug. Rechargeable is nice but if the battery is dead so is the inflator.
