For a while I did electrical service calls. There were houses I would not step into. No way. Sticky floors, knee deep trash, dishes that sat so long in the sink they were covered in mold. Nope, see ya later, not this old boy.

Reminds me of a funny story about my late father, our hardware store sold appliances until 1984, so he did service calls, one day a lady called that her washer had stopped agitating, he went, when came up from the basement she asked if he repaired it, yes, I found the problem he said to her "the engineer is dead", she said huh? He fished a dead rat out of it that got caught in one of the drive belts. He wasn't surpirsed by the way the house looked.
