Makes sense since it would probably kill the Tacoma sales and they don't want that.

Now on Fords side what I could see happening is them dropping the Ranger in the US when the second gen Maverick comes out. I could also see the second gen Maverick growing a little getting a 5,000lb towing and 500lb hitch weight capacity and a 5 foot bed.

They aren't going to drop the Ranger. Body on frame mid size trucks have their place.

It'll be interesting to see how the $30k EV pickup slots in. Larger than a Maverick but cheaper than a Ranger.

I'll crap my pants and post a video of it on here if you can buy an EV truck from Ford for $30k after destination charge.

I think we can do without the video.

I loved the Fiskar but fortunately didn’t pull the trigger. I checked out the Karma at a shopping mall kiosk. I’ve only seen the slate on line.
Are people more “trusting” when there are dealerships to visit?

people get their hopes up when ever there is a rumor of a brand new truck with 80's pricing and Folks"ITS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN"!
80's vehicle pricing will always stay in the 80's. You'd have to really stupid to think $5,000-$6,000 new trucks are coming back.

Toyota once again says they will not try to compete with the Maverick. Will focus on overpriced Tacoma's instead.
https://www.thedrive.com/news/toyota-wont-rush-a-compact-truck-because-the-tacoma-prints-money
Makes perfect sense. The Tacoma has record sales numbers, despite all the naysayers preaching on the internet. Over priced is clearly in the eyes of the beholder.

Given the price variance between an XL Maverick and a Lobo we already know people will spend whatever they like to get what they want. The Tacoma outsold the Maverick more than 2:1 last year.

It may be like the Maverick when it first came out. Offer a few for an introductory low price. And if it sells, quickly raise the price over a period of 4 years. And the $30,000 if it happens will probably be before destination charge. But now you have me hoping that they can't do it because I really don't want to see you poop your pants 😂😂

Toyota seems to be missing an opportunity. Given that 60% of those who bought the Maverick came from other brands . 80% never owned a truck before. Some of the top vehicles that were traded in for the Maverick where Toyota RAV4 and Honda CRVs. So if Toyota had a Maverick size product in house, they might not lose the person who love their RAV4 but needed something with a bed.

I have F350. Did I need another vehicle with an open bed. Probably not. Buying my Maverick wasn't about need. I wanted a cheap, economical, four-door vehicle with a bed for convenience.
Too many focus on what they think people need and not on what people want. I'd hate living in a place where other people decide what I need and don't need. Too socialist for me.
I vividly remember folks on the Smart Car forum, insisting that if you're only traveling back and forth to work you only need a two-seat car and that's what you should buy. It was hard for some of them to believe that somebody would want a full size pickup to travel back and forth to work. In their mind it wasn't something that was needed.
I kind of shot their argument all the shit when I bought my Maverick hybrid, because the Maverick actually got better gas mileage then our smart cars.

Agreed. Toyota has been doing some strange, for them, stuff since the current CEO took over the company. They have gone from a company that made, in the words of popular reviewers "boring" vehicles that generally worked well and suited the average consumer, to a company that is focusing on the higher end stuff, trail editions and such. Not that they are doing anything different than Ford, or other manufactures in terms of a lineup of value to higher end.

The value oriented vehicles left in the Toyota lineup are the Corolla and Corolla Cross, just like the Maverick is the value oriented model for Ford. The difference is Ford sees itself as a truck company, while Toyota sees itself as a car company. That really comes down to Japanese culture vs American culture. It's why the Tacoma and Tundra are designed in Texas, while everything else comes from abroad.
