Just saw this video and thought it should be posted. Sounds like it's a software issue and seems they are advising using the electric parking brake when left in park, until the update. Also looks like ones on dealer lots have to have the recall done before selling.

I found it interesting about the proper procedure for applying the parking brake he mentions in the video. When I apply the parking brake in my 25 Hybrid I put it in park and apply the parking brake while my foot in still on the brake.

There is another thread about this recall started last week.

That video about how to apply the parking brake is BOGUS Read the manual. There is NOTHING about nuetral. the following is a copy and paste from the manual

WARNING: Apply the parking brake and make sure your vehicle is in park (P). Power the vehicle off and remove the keys or remote control whenever you leave your vehicle. Failure to follow this instruction could result in personal injury or death

All this "personal injury or death" reminds me of all the owner material I got when I bought my Harley!

I noticed a few weeks ago that the parking brake automatically applies when I put my 25 hybrid in Park. I’d never used the PB previously. Possibly an over-the-air update at some point?

That is interesting. So it applies the parking brake automatically every time?

Mine does. 2025 Lariat hybrid. Also, when I turn it off, it is automatically set to park and the parking brake is set. When I start the truck and select forward or reverse, then press the accelerator, the parking brake releases. I only do it manually just as a precaution to confirm it's engaged.

The parking brake procedure Tim mentioned in his Maverick Monday video is not how it is described in my 25 Lariat Hybrid owner's manual. It mentions nothing about first selecting neutral from drive and then placing in park. And to disengage, it states to manually do so with the lever. I do realize that the e-brake will release with the accelerator once the vehicle is placed into D or R,.but Tim made it sound like that was proper procedure.

In 56 years of driving Have never used a parking brake, even in stick shift vehicles, my 25 Lariat I see the parking brake light on all the time? I have never touched it.

It’s intermittent on my hybrid. Maybe depending on whether I’m parking on a slight incline.

Exactly. But not every time, for some reason.

I tested this yesterday to confirm after I made the post. In my garage where the floor is level, the parking brake did not engage. I backed out onto the driveway which has a slight slope, it did engage.

Yes, from the 2025 owners manual under "Park (P)":

"Note: The electronic parking brake could apply if you shift to park (P) on a slope."
