With a 54" bed, your Maverick is big enough to drive to the nearest U-Haul. They'll rent you a van with a ramp, straps, blankets, and whatever you need to move all your stuff from Point A to Point B without having to worry about it getting rained on.
I'm probably going to have some overlap in home ownership so am thinking more of just moving smaller portions at first. Then get a smaller U-Haul for the last bit. I want to avoid the mistake of just packing up everything I own, including stuff I no longer need. Washer/Dryer, yes. Old stained couch, no.

I haven't started looking for a house yet, so premature to plan too much. As I start moving stuff out, I plan to do some repairs in my current house in prep for sale, such as drywall repair and interior painting. Which will be easier once I get some stuff moved out. Last time I moved it was less than a mile, and I got everything moved in my F-150.

More research. PODs aren't available, but U-Haul has options for a similar pod. I would just have to figure out how much I need to move. A truck would be cheaper, but I would have to do the driving and tow my car/truck. A pod would be less rush to load/unload.

In neither case would it have been monetarily worth it to buy a pickup larger and more expensive than I need just for a potential move.

More like $50 a day after they add on all the taxes and “other” charges.
So about 1/4 of 1 month payment for an F-150 :)

Renting a u-haul for a whole house move is really a no brainer, unless someone wants to spend more for PODS or hiring movers. I learned young to get at least one size bigger truck than you think you'll need, offer food, beer or money to get enough friends to help and just do the whole move in one load on one day.
So much more relaxing and peaceful when it's one and done.

I was thinking the same thing. But, I have a light little 4'x 8' trailer that is great for things like big appliances or a lawn tractor, ect.
we did a haul & idiots we hired from them for the first day, and trips with the maverick after that.

And then my new neighbor noticed me driving another load in (wearing a shirt for his favorite team  ), and suggested I borrow his trailer.

I mentioned my 4k limit, and he told me that the trailer was only 937 (or some such).

OK, the chances of my back hauling out 3,000 in a single day , and then unloading it . . .
:eek::crackup:

You can even rent an F150 from Home Depot for like $40
that really only gets you something like an hour and a half, assuming the short rental before returns it on time anyway!). For a full day, a uhaul medium size is less than an f-150 from Home Depot.

So about 1/4 of 1 month payment for an F-150 :)
My reaction was that renting the uhaul lis less than a single month's difference in payments between an f-150 and a maverick . . .

notes:
1) pay the damage waiver at uhaul. Really. I've used it more than once. Don't pay it on a rental car, but for these things, unless you regularly drive something larger, it's a no-brainer!
2) much as we like the maverick, I need the F-150. The maverick doesn't cut it for me at 6'2" for long drives (e.g., 500 miles each way a couple of days apart). I'll get an F-150 or the ramcharger [or whatever it's called this week] both to haul my classic cars around, and because there hasn't been a real cadillac built for a couple of decades.

Highly likely to be buying a new house in another city this year. An F-150, with it's larger bed, would make it easier to carry stuff a truckload at a time to the new house.

Of course, it would have cost more, or I would have had to buy a 2018 or so to keep my cost down. And get worse fuel economy. And not fit in my garage. And be harder to park in parking lots.

So only a minor regret. For the 99% of the other time, I don't regret it :)

I may actually try to rent a small trailer for moving my washer/dryer. I think I can do that and remain under the 2K towing limit of my Maverick.
Rent a u haul pickup

Here is a possibility. Call the local H S football coach. Ask for him to contact two buff players to call you if they would like half a day's work. (Lower income family a bonus) Agree ahead on the rate. Rent a you haul and dolly. Get the whole thing done in half a day, stack it all in the garage.

Sold my F350 DRW years ago [only really needed for a couple of days]. Sold my F150 last year & purchased my 2025 Maverick Hybrid Lariat 4K AWD and 100% no regrets. Enjoy the Maverick and rent a big truck when needed and save your money.

Trailers are key to getting bigger jobs done and not have to pay &20k more for a vehicle that also costs much more to operate.

One of the reasons I got the 4k tow was so that I wouldn't really have an issue towing a trailer roughly the size that pickup beds used to be (8ft long and at least 48 in of space between the sides.)

Even if I had an F-150 or 250 I would still go for a UHall if moving a house.

.

Thats dumb. Go rent a pensks truck for the day....

I work construction and regularly use my hybrid to move sheets of plywood, drywall, lumber and concrete. The mav does 99% of what psople need and when it xoesnt you are better off renting a f150 from uhaul or or a penske truck from homedepot....

Rent a huge one from Lowe's for 4 hours. Move it all and get rid of it... for your 1 percent big truck needs.

I have no regrets about not buying an F150. I do wish my maverick were made of aluminum., with an engine cylinder head that had 40mm exhaust valves and 30 mm intake valves. The trucks hood would be sloped forward to be 8 inches lower with the windshield slopped back and addition 10 degrees. The wheels should be made out of titanium and fitted 40mm narrower tires of same diameter. With all theses improvements the acceleration and highway passing speed would remain the same despite the 30HP loss and the MPGs would go up about 10-MPGs from city to 80 MPH highway. With the same springs the car (with open air trunk) would feel crisper on mountain roads.
