My 2025 AWD XLT Maverick with the 2.0 EB goes pretty good on the snow covered roads IMO in Slippery Mode with the Stock Continental Tires but they only have about 5,200 miles on them.

Just remembering back and thinking how I admired those Pacers and Gremlins...dream the dream with the junk I had to start with.

My first car was a $250.00 1973 AMC Matador...light diarrhea brown...yeesh. With a gas guzzling 360 V8 in it...and bald summer tires no less, just to keep everything interesting (heater was shot as well).

I needed those old plastic anti fog/ice shields we used to use on the inside and back windows to keep the frost away and see out. I haf an ice scraper for the inside of the front car window while I was driving...(have I mentioned how much I love our little Maverick yet?).

Drive that turd in the winter, in Manitoba, and see what living on the edge really is, I really can't support my decisions back then. But, when trying to get by and earn minimum wage...or get into town to play some pool on a Saturday night.

Have a good one, and get some decent winter tires on your truck (in areas that get winter weather, of course) and drive, well, like it is winter and the roads are slippery!

None of our roads have been plowed or salted. 24 eb/awd set to "slippery", factory tires with 11k on them. I spun on every corner even at 3 mph. I'm not getting how some in here claim it's so grippy in snow.

I had the same issue with less than an inch of snow; slid through 2 intersections even with AWD, factory tires, 11,000 miles, slick mode dialed in. Luckily nobody else nearby. I've plenty of experience driving in snow. My Honda Element never slid even I tried to get it to and it didn't have the multiple driving settings. Lol, I miss that beast except for its terrible gas mileage.

... Pretty hard to beat blizzak tires... I have a 25' Maverick Lariat hybrid AWD... Still using the factory tires but I only have around 4000 miles on my truck and they grip rather well here in Montana

Driving in icy conditions is a lot different than driving in snow. Ice is everywhere with these quick temp changes

I have a post somewhere in here lol mine was the same way on the factory supplied Pirelli Scorpion ATR during our first snow. I've always run snows on my other cars but being my first AWD truck I thought NAH, don't need them. Get them! Lol seriously tho I got a set of Pirelli Scorpion Winter tires and it's like night and day! I haven't even used the slippery mode yet with the new snows.

Did you stay with 225 (SL) or go wider 235 (XL load)?

I went up to the 235 to get the XL load rating - which is 8lbs heavier per tire and boy is my efficiency paying for it. Worth it to me but it took a big hit.

Pfft. One inch of snow is not snow. Set your tire pressures correctly, get some winter 3peak tires, put it in slippery mode and learn to drive without such a lead foot. You live in a state that sees a lot of black ice, so you should be capable of driving on it.

I put them on some aftermarket rims (18”) so I went 245/60R18. Probably wouldn’t go bigger. They look nice and meaty.

Fuel economy went from 6.7L/100km to 8.1L/100km so yeah definitely less efficient. I also primarily drive highway, and that also factoring in colder temps. I think I lose about 1L/100km with them. Not a huge concern if mine though. I’m still saving $300-$400/month on fuel compared to my F-150.

The tires manufactured for the consumer are the best that they can make due to stiff competition. The tires sold to the vehicle manufacturers are the worst they can make (subpar) due to contract bids with their competition. If I ever get a set of replacement tires that aren't better than the originals, I will be VERY disappointed.

The Michelin Primacy’s that came on my 2024 Lariat are the exact same ones for sale at Walmart and Two other tire stores.

They work so well I just may replace my stock 225/60R18’s with
235/60R18’s of the same kind.

Typically the OEM tires will have less tread depth than retail versions of the same tire. That's usually the main difference.
