Did they have the maverick in sport mode in that race?

I actually prefer when they don't brake boost.

Especially when they use launch control options when those exist, it doesn't give me a good idea of how fast that car really is when I'm just goosing it from a light to get over into the right lane or something. A "normal" launch is more apples/apples.

Also, they are up at high altitude, so the hybrid should kick it even harder here at sea level!
I agree. I know some magazines do it, to get the best possible times. I was saying it would definitely give it a better time on paper if they boosted. However, yeah I live pretty close to sea level, and my Maverick feels pretty quick.

Edit: I have the 4k Tow, so maybe that gearing difference would have mattered in this test also? (I can't remember what model they used in the vid)

It’s that instant torque from the electric motors that makes all the difference especially at higher altitudes. Turbos still do better than NA engines at higher altitudes, but you never have to worry about the thin air with an electric motor
Yep. Looking forward to driving my hybrid in the mountains for road trips to colorado.

Motorweek got their EB AWD Mav to go 0-60 in 6.2 seconds on the track. I’m pretty sure they’re in Maryland.
Makes a lot more sense than testing at altitude
People may think I'm full of :poop: , but I still think the FWD ecoboost will outrun a AWD ecoboost in the 1/4 mile. Less weight and driveline losses. As long as the tires aren't complete garbage, it'll hook up well enough as the turbo takes a second to spool anyway and so smooths out the launch.
I am looking forward to finding out when I do get mine. I wouldn't put too much faith into testing done at altitude, the Motorweek test is more realistic.
The front of that new Tundra has all the styling of the rear end of a forklift, fugly!

The thing is not the Truck…. Is the driver.!!! Simple than that!!! That’s why the times differences between different drivers with the same truck model.!! Another thing is they only did one race with each model. well was just a funny video . Is not a technical professional specialized test.!!!

In theory you might be right. It would be close.

Are there not different tire sizes on Mavericks depending on trim level or options. That will make a difference.

Didn't TFL truck get their Hybrid Maverick to do 0-60 in 7.4 sec? That's only about 1 second behind!
Yes they did. I remember being pretty impressed when I saw that. And when it beat the Bronco lol.

They needed the 4K lower gearing and sport mode.

I got yelled at on youtube when I was excited for my speedy 7.4sec hybrid. I expected 10s 0-60 time, so you're darn right im excited.

I agree. But I'm also aware that 0-60 in 3 seconds is becoming the new normal with EV's so -- These may be the slowest trucks on the planet soon... lol

That makes a lot of sense to me too..
Yeah, cuz here's a FWD Escape ST-Line with the same 2.0 Ecoboost, and you can see when they floor it, yeah it chirps in 1st gear, but not off the line only when the turbo is into boost and the chirp is really minimal. 2nd gear chirp is pretty much non-existent:

The FWD is 170lbs lighter, maybe 3-4% less driveline friction so 9hp or so extra, and I'd probably go XL and remove the spare and jack, which I assume is another 40lbs or so. Should improve weight to power ratio by about 1.3lbs/hp, which is quite a lot.

If you went one further and installed some light aftermarket wheels with slightly wider and stickier tires, you could probably eliminate the chirp entirely without any other performance penalty.
