I agree. I know some magazines do it, to get the best possible times. I was saying it would definitely give it a better time on paper if they boosted. However, yeah I live pretty close to sea level, and my Maverick feels pretty quick.I actually prefer when they don't brake boost.
Especially when they use launch control options when those exist, it doesn't give me a good idea of how fast that car really is when I'm just goosing it from a light to get over into the right lane or something. A "normal" launch is more apples/apples.
Also, they are up at high altitude, so the hybrid should kick it even harder here at sea level!
Yep. Looking forward to driving my hybrid in the mountains for road trips to colorado. It’s that instant torque from the electric motors that makes all the difference especially at higher altitudes. Turbos still do better than NA engines at higher altitudes, but you never have to worry about the thin air with an electric motor
I guarantee they did not.Did they have the maverick in sport mode in that race?
Makes a lot more sense than testing at altitudeMotorweek got their EB AWD Mav to go 0-60 in 6.2 seconds on the track. I’m pretty sure they’re in Maryland.
I am looking forward to finding out when I do get mine. I wouldn't put too much faith into testing done at altitude, the Motorweek test is more realistic.People may think I'm full of, but I still think the FWD ecoboost will outrun a AWD ecoboost in the 1/4 mile. Less weight and driveline losses. As long as the tires aren't complete garbage, it'll hook up well enough as the turbo takes a second to spool anyway and so smooths out the launch.
In theory you might be right. It would be close.People may think I'm full of, but I still think the FWD ecoboost will outrun a AWD ecoboost in the 1/4 mile. Less weight and driveline losses. As long as the tires aren't complete garbage, it'll hook up well enough as the turbo takes a second to spool anyway and so smooths out the launch.
Yes they did. I remember being pretty impressed when I saw that. And when it beat the Bronco lol.Didn't TFL truck get their Hybrid Maverick to do 0-60 in 7.4 sec? That's only about 1 second behind!
I got yelled at on youtube when I was excited for my speedy 7.4sec hybrid. I expected 10s 0-60 time, so you're darn right im excited.Didn't TFL truck get their Hybrid Maverick to do 0-60 in 7.4 sec? That's only about 1 second behind!
I agree. But I'm also aware that 0-60 in 3 seconds is becoming the new normal with EV's so -- These may be the slowest trucks on the planet soon... lolI got yelled at on youtube when I was excited for my speedy 7.4sec hybrid. I expected 10s 0-60 time, so you're darn right im excited.
Altitude in ColoradoThey got a slower 0-60 in the EB (7.74) than they did in the hybrid (7.41).
Yeah, cuz here's a FWD Escape ST-Line with the same 2.0 Ecoboost, and you can see when they floor it, yeah it chirps in 1st gear, but not off the line only when the turbo is into boost and the chirp is really minimal. 2nd gear chirp is pretty much non-existent:That makes a lot of sense to me too..
