I asked my dealer to have front halfshaft and driver side seat buckle replacements while doing oil change yesterday. But when I pick up my truck, I only saw the invoice of oil changed without mentioning any of the CSP service items. And those two notices are still open in my Ford App. I asked them and was told that they checked and thought they were fine but kept the items open so I could get service again if I had issue in the future.

I got a feeling they didn't do the work and were just bulls**ting me. What's your experience? How do you guys think?
Neither of these recalls are automatic. They're done only if there's a problem. So they remain open. If a recall has an N in it (such as 25N09) , it's done only if it's needed. And it's usually just an extension of the normal warranty. If the vehicle is not exhibiting the condition described, it's not done but remains open for the duration of the time noted in the recall. Technically it's known as a customer satisfaction action . If a recall has an S , E, or C in it, then it's ALWAYS done whether it's an inspection, parts replacement, or software update such as 25S02 which called for battery replacement on certain Ecoboost equipped Mavericks and Bronco Sport . So if your axles go bad before 150,000 miles or 10 years . I hope this helped

I never got this campaign notification. Fixed it once before, back in April, and then it started happening again. I brought it in to get the axles fixed again under my extended warranty, and that's how I found out about it. I was pleasantly surprised that they replaced both instead of just one, and I didn't have to pay the copay on the warranty.

who wants to guess answers to these questions : (1) I had one half shaft replaced a couple months ago, it rides fine now, but per the notice they say that both need to be replaced - anyone think I can just wander in- point to the previous service and expect them to replace the other one ? Or Do I have to wait for the other one to fail and then take it in and then get that one replaced? (2) I'm thinking this is not truly a 'one time' free replacement - doesn't the 5/60K drivetrain cover this anyways? Don't we get these replaced as many times as needed until the guarantee is up? Thanks.
it states "if needed"

I have the problem, the only issue is it doesn't do it all the time. I am concerned if I take it in and it doesn't do it, I will be charged 140.00 just for them to look at it.

CV joint isn't a sometimes works without issues sometimes has issue.

Now maybe straight accelerations need a little help to show there is an issue.
But if CV joint is going bad - corners would show it all the time.

If that's not happening - you could have something else going on for whatever test you are doing.

In most likelihood, they will replace them because it's not a difficult repair, it's easy money from Ford, and isn't that strict concerning these axles. There are some customer satisfaction recalls where the procedures for approval are very strict. And the concern has to be verified to certain standards set by Ford. But at this time the CV axles aren't one of them. Just tell him that it happens sometimes and you feel that it the problem is just beginning. They might replace these axles without even test driving the truck, especially if it's slow like it usually is at this time of the year. That time between Christmas and when income tax refunds start coming is usually a slow time for us at the dealer. Most are not trying to be nitpicky over easy money 🤣

Is anyone experiencing a grinding/rumbling noise after having their front half shafts replaced?

Not my video but it demonstrates the sound pretty well:

I realize this is an older thread but I having the same issue of the vibration on accelerating and took my truck into the dealer. They are claiming damage to the control arm and denied me getting the new axles unless I want to replace the axles $1,190.00 plus $1,400 for the control arm. I have NO uneven wear of the tires that would show from a damaged control arm and the axles half shafts are vibrating constantly. What I am going to do is take it in to an independent shop have them replace the half shafts and then pay it and then take the paperwork and write Ford a nice letter and request reimbursement

Is the control arm actually damaged? Did they show you where the damage is? IF the control arm is somehow damaged then get it replaced and see if that fixes it. If it's not damaged then pursue 'what the heck is going on' with the dealership. You getting the 1/2 shaft(s) (sometimes it is just one) from an independent guarantees that you're never getting reimbursed, not to mention if you don't fix the (if it is...) control arm replaced you're still going to have a problem and in addition you're looking at having to pay 2 times for an alignment.

Bad idea. Find another dealer.

Actually when I got back to my shop at home and crawled under the truck I do not see on either lower control arms any damage. As I posted if there was any damage it will show quite quickly on the front tires and they are wearing evenly. There is three dealerships near by and they are all sort of kind of bad in terms of the service ends.

I have seen having a neighbors F-250 just in to the dealership and she had a oil change done and then she is home and all the truck would do is click click and no start. I walked over and took one look grabbed my battery terminal brush and had her make up a baking soda water mix and spent 15 minutes and had her back up and running her truck. You think the dealership tech would spend a minute and see the corrosion on the battery terminal ends and do a quick clean up.

Seems like they are lying - but you really need to have them personally show you where the control arm is damaged - it should be a simple task for them to do so. Put them on the spot - if they can't prove what they are claiming then you might have to personally take it up with Ford or take it to another one of those dealers. I had one CV axle replaced as it had the symptoms you state - at Ford's cost - and it hasn't been problematic since then (been about a year).

Be careful when doing that. Ford may choose not to reimburse if you had the axles replaced AFTER they issued the bulletin. Why not have the control arm replaced at an independent dealership then take it to another Ford dealership to replace the axles. ?
