I have heard that in Ford’s infinite wisdom they are dropping the Escape and Lincoln Corsair models in the near future. They are supposed to be replaced by a small EV SUV(rumor). I was told that the Maverick was built on the Escape platform. My Corsair Weather Techs fit perfect in my 2024 Maverick Lariat. If this is true what will be the future of the Maverick?

The Escape went away because of the Bronco Sport. It’s the same vehicle with a bit softer suspension and a different body style/shape.

The reason, the Escape is mentioned with the Maverick.
Is of the use of the same, chassis/drivetrain layout.
The Maverick, will NOT be discontinued because of the Escape's demise..

This is the modern automotive business.

The Maverick and Bronco Sport only exist because of the Escape (engineering resources and the production facility for the Escape made it "easier" and more cost effective to develop the Bronco Sport and then Maverick. However those two have now outshone their Escape (parent) to the point that every Escape built represents resources and production allocation that could have gone to a Maverick or a Bronco Sport. Ergo canceling the Escape means that MORE Bronco Sport and Mavericks can be built (which is what the public wants) and the next gen Maverick and Bronco Sport can be developed without having to take the Escape into account.

Perhaps we'll finally get the hybrid Bronco Sport many have wanted AND maybe the plug-in Maverick hybrid or an off road focused Maverick Hybrid.

No way Ford is going to discontinue the Maverick, as it's a big (and growing) seller for Ford.
As was noted, the Escape being dropped from the lineup is morel likely to mean that more Mavericks will be built.

Edit: I forgot to mention that any Ford executive who proposed dropping a vehicle from the lineup that just won the best truck of the year award would be looking for a new job in January.. 😉

The Escape was a decent vehicle when introduced but now is a bad laggard in its class. Kia, Hyundai, Toyota, Honda, Nissan all superior. Subaru not direct competitor but definitely attracts similar drivers. Escapes are poor by comparison.

I hope that's true. Ford obviously has incentive to do that.

The Bronco Sport at least has some character, something all the other jelly bean crossovers don't.

They should get rid of that sub-par 1.5L and just do the 2.0L EB or hybrid drive options like the Maverick though.

Wife drives, loves her 17 Escape Titanium. Told her Ford plans to drop the Escape, and if they do, what alternative would she consider, like. She commented many gal friends have Subaru. Because of her knees, not gonna consider any high stepping vehicle, like a Bronco.

Cancelling the Escape/Corsair has nothing to do with the Bronco Sport/Maverick. The 1st 2 sales are dwindling while the latter 2 are strong. The fact that platforms are shared is irrelevant. The Escape is very long in the tooth and uncompetitive with the CR-V, RAV4 and CX-5/CX-50.

That is the impression that you are meant to have by the people that write reviews. The reality is that most of those are a "one trick pony" which compromise on something.

I went through them all in detail earlier in the year to get my wife's vehicle. Strangely the Escape would be second in a lot of qualities where the "one thing it was good at" vehicle won and got dinged more for that than the other did for being useless at everything else.

Anyway, if you want a one trick pony, buy a CUV that isn't an Escape, if you don't want strengths traded for glaring weaknesses, buy an Escape. That's Ford's only sin here, a balanced package, and because it's balanced it doesn't scream "look at me I'm a special boy" in any one category.

I wouldn't worry about it. The Maverick and Bronco Sport are here to stay since they've been such massive hits. More so the Maverick than the Bronco Sport. As mentioned, those two share the same platform and components from the Escape which is the reason for their existence in the first place. It was more cost effective this way instead of devoting their own unique platforms.

As a result, the Escape has been overlooked. It has been noncompetitive since the Maverick and B.S. were introduced. Its last redesign was in 2020 and has remained the same ever since despite a refresh for 2024. Everyone else has either had a full redesign or more significant refreshes. Some that come to mind are the Kia Sportage, Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V and Subaru Forester.

Everyone's moved on whereas the Escape has been in limbo and knocking on heaven's door for the last few years. It's evident in how many I see. There's more Bronco Sports and Mavericks than Escapes on the road. When I go to a dealership, there's always a full line of Escapes whereas the Mavericks and B.S.' are few and far between. Definitely more now compared to the chip shortage days but still fewer to go around than the Escape because of their popularity.

After someone hit my wife’s Maverick, totaled it, wasn’t much of a bump according to her. Went looking for a Ford SUV, no edge, no escape. She’s now driving a Honda CRV hybrid.

Their going to move Maverick production to the US where the Escape is built
The Louisville plant is being converted to the new EV platform, no longer making the C2 platform, so the Maverick will not be being made there. My guess would be if Ford assembled the Maverick there, with the cost UAW labor, it would no longer be inexpensive.
