Well I understand the plugs but not sure I can interpret the sonograms. Boys or girls or a mix?? As you can tell, I am neither a mechanic nor a doctor!!;)🙂 Thanks for the info for those who can interpret!

Well the pistons are still in one piece and they aren't carboned up that bad for 53,000 miles and the plugs aren't either IMO.

Honestly I think it all looks good! Plugs look fine and there's nothing really to note about the cylinders and pistons. I'd say you still have a healthy running engine.

All looks good. I would be more attentive to the cylinder walls looking for scoring and scratches from seized or broken piston rings which is the big problem possibly caused by direct injection. Gasoline sprayed into the cylinders could wash down the walls and collect on the piston rings and in the ring grooves and carbonize there seizing the ring into the groove resulting in compression and heat transfer issues. This excessive heat may cause a phenomenon called Low Speed Preignition and break the ring or piston and result in catastrophic engine failure. Bearing issues may sprout also from gasoline dilution and contamination. Ask Hyundai owners wth happened to their engines. Of course, seeing the cylinder wall scratched will be too late, but at least you'll know to be proactive with your dealer before something lets go. A friend had #1 cylinder badly scored in his Focus ST requiring a short block replacement. This is a lurking demon with GDI. Not all, but keeping the engine oil fresh may help in case. I am super happy that the new 2.0 is not GDI only. That doesn't mean I'll be less cautious, but I'll breathe a little easier.

Your spark plugs look great.
A gentile cleaning and regap along with verifying the plugs resistance with a multimeter before reinstalling them would be appropriate.
If you sandblast the plugs to clean them, do it gently so you do not remove the iridium coating on the center electrode. Otherwise, brake cleaner works great.

Nothing notable seen on the tops of the pistons. They are fine.
The next time you borescope, concentrate on the valves and valve seats. Also make sure you can still see crosshatching on the cylinder walls. Absence of crosshatching would be an indication that the pistons are binding in the bores during their travel.

I see Nothing of concern in the pictures and think you have a perfectly healthy engine, my friend.

Looks good on the plugs and normal on cylinder view. Ecoboost are tough on head gaskets, but all looks dry. Thanks for posting😎

If no performance problems and If those are iridium plugs put them back in for another 100,000 miles.

An Italian tune up twice a month would be beneficial. But throwing iridium’s away at 53,000 miles is just wasteful. It’s your money.

Iridium plugs never need re-gapping.
It’s Iridium, it will not wear down. The Insulator will fail first.

Put em back in for another 100,000 miles.
