I changed my oil at 1000 miles on the recommendation of Lake Speed Jr. As he has mentioned, the analysis showed elevated levels of copper and aluminum. The report said this is normal for the break in period. He has a video where on his personal vehicle he changes it at 750 miles to remove the very high levels of wear metals circulating in the oil. I know several of the posters have much more in depth knowlege of tribology than Lake Speed jr. Just ask them.
I will change my oil again at 5,000 miles and fudge his recommendation to change at 3,000 miles.
I figure I am at least doing better than average to insure a very long engine life.
So don't feel bad about your early oil change. Let the haters comments roll off your back like water on a duck and continue to be proactive about maintenence.
I also had the greenish oil color and also had the same small white filter. Seems common from the comments posted here.

Drop that break in oil! Since Ford also is using an intelligent oil life monitoring system a consumer can likely use the OLM and still be on the conservative side. Lake did a video on the GM OLM and I think that is probably a pretty safe bet for most people to use the ECM data to tell you when it is time to drop that oil... After dumping that break in oil of course! LOL Good on the OP for getting that break in oil out of there!

I'm going to have them performed every 6k moving forward. We have to consider that the hybrids will cover about 10-20% in EV mode, reducing any wear during those miles covered...but I'm definitely NOT going to sweat if I'm 500miles over/late too.
Every case is different. Some hybrid owners drive 50% of the miles in EV.
There IS NO SINGLE "CORRECT" oil change interval.

If only we had some automated way to keep track of these vastly different driving conditions... 🤔

56% of my miles are EV on my 5 day a week route.

Ahh, yep, I live a few minutes from a major interstate running north-south, so not many EV/city miles for me...70/30 if I had to put s number on it...

My EV ratio is also close to 50% with mixed driving. I'll probably wait to around 3-5K miles before the 1st change to let the break-in oil do it's job. That's only 1500-2500 miles on the engine.

But no one lab tests that stock oil
Yes we do. Many of us do.....

That post only talks about the stock oil analysis from my 25 Hybrid and my 23 EcoBoost (and a 24 Subaru), but I could dig up my 22 Ecoboost Mav first oil change analysis as well. I didn't report the numbers (just the comments), but I have all the numbers as well. Wear metals and lubes are present in high quantities.

And you are about to become castrated for not reading existing posts on this topic. Just FYI.
Gosh, we're getting hardcore about this.

Kind of nuts, if you think about it.

Maybe we could steer him in the right direction . . .

🤪

Hey, that's what I did.
I was just warning him of the wolf packs. And yes I see your play on words.

Or maybe he has already been steered.

My first oil change was at 9000 miles on my Hybrid. Used that same oil to wax the kitchen floor. Guess what? Not ONE piece of metal in there.

I have a 2025 hybrid with AWD. I changed mine after the first 2600 miles. I will be going on a longer trip and wanted to do it while the weather is still good. Some observations - there's a ridiculous amount of fasteners to remove to get to the drain plug. Wish it was like Toyota in just removing a smaller panel. Second is that the small filter was over torqued and the end was crushed. Glad to get that off. 3rd is that it was way dirtier looking than I thought. It may not have needed it, but it's peace of mind to get it done and get rid of that startup oil

I have been doing this on new cars for a long time as I always send samples off to see how it is breaking in and send samples in later to see how the wear is going. I was over the maintenance dept at a large mining operation for over 20 years and we sampled ALL fluids at regular intervals. Can't tell you how many engines, trans. ,or hydraulic pumps we saved or found out they were going bad early . Here is the link to Lake Speed ,,,,,,

Engine miles or tire miles?

You have 25MY - know how to tell the difference?
