My 2025 XLT hybrid fwd just clocked little over 1 k miles. I decided to get new oil n filter in. I was surprised that the oil from factory is like greenish color? and the oil filter was smaller than the one I pick up from the dealer? Have anyone else experience this before?

Really though, that green oil is special for break in. Some say it helps for 5000 miles. Other do as you did and change it at 1k for unknown reasons.

And you are about to become castrated for not reading existing posts on this topic. Just FYI.

I'm more surprised you're changed the oil with only a thousand miles on it, unless the trucks already a year old.

Because engines break in and wear and it’s best to get the break in oil out sooner than later. I’m more surprised you didn’t know this and do it yourself.

Some say it's green for easier leak detection.

Some say it's green due to special ingredients.

Some say change it early because "probably" there's metal shavings in there.

But no one lab tests that stock oil (sadly I didn't either since first two were free at the dealership and I didn't tell them "hey save me half a pint") so the world may never know!

Longer drain intervals and older engine oil reduce engine friction and wear due in large part to ZDDP deposition on surfaces. Each oil change "washes" these antiwear film deposits off, leading to a spike in surface scarring and wear metals immediately after each and every oil change. https://www.sae.org/publications/technical-papers/content/2007-01-4133/ - iirc you can get the full paper on scihub.

Did my 1st change at 28xx miles, I kinda felt that waiting a bit longer for the "break-in oil" to do it's job was appropriate, then get it out...definitely didn't feel 7500 mile inotial OCI was a good idea. I'm going to have them performed every 6k moving forward. We have to consider that the hybrids will cover about 10-20% in EV mode, reducing any wear during those miles covered...but I'm definitely NOT going to sweat if I'm 500miles over/late too.
