We Gave Maverick a Mustang Turbo Transplant — You're Going to Love It

Ford Maverick 300HP Ford Maverick 300T Project Vehicle previews turbo upgrade option for customers! Ford_Custom_Garage_Maverick_300T_Concept1

Words by Matthew Simpson is the Executive Director of Accessories and Personalization:

Okay. We’ve been obsessing about how to give Maverick customers even more ways to build the street trucks they were modifying in their driveways and garages. The Maverick 300T project vehicle was born from talking with Maverick customers in addition to late nights scrolling through Reddit and Ford Maverick Truck Club forums, watching how people were personalizing their trucks.

You've been asking for more power. You've been showing us incredible custom builds. And you've been proving that the Maverick isn't just a practical compact truck — it's a platform with serious performance potential.

At SEMA 2025, we're showcasing a Ford Custom Garage Project Vehicle, courtesy of Ford Performance Parts — the Ford Maverick 300T. And we plan to make a version of the 300T project kit available to customers in 2026. Stay tuned.

The Mustang Heart Transplant

We're looking at an estimated 300 horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque. That's a 50 HP and 40 lb-ft jump over stock.

When we started the Maverick 300T Project Vehicle, the answer was sitting right there in our parts catalog: the turbocharger from the 2.3-liter EcoBoost Mustang engine.

We're not just slapping a tune on the stock 2.0-liter. We're swapping in Mustang DNA with a turbocharger transplant, and it is designed to be CARB certified 50-state legal.

The centerpiece is that proven turbo with a significantly larger 59mm compressor wheel (up from 53mm on the stock unit). Here's where it gets really good: We paired it with a Mishimoto intercooler that's 58.8% larger than stock. This intercooler delivers a 39.6% increase in temperature reduction and a 20.1% reduction in pressure drop compared to the factory unit.

Why does that matter? Because keeping your intake temps down means consistent power, pull after pull. Whether you're merging onto the highway with a trailer or making a spirited run through your favorite back road, the Maverick 300T delivers.

ProCal 4 tuning ties it all together, and a Borla exhaust lets that turbo breathe (and sing).

More Than Just Straight-Line Speed

Look, anyone can add horsepower. But we wanted the Maverick 300T to be a complete performance package. So, we didn't stop at the engine bay.

We fitted 20-inch Mach-E GT wheels wrapped in serious performance rubber — Pirelli P ZERO ELECT tires (though our SEMA show truck is wearing Michelin Pilot Sport 4S because, well, they look amazing). Then we completely reworked the suspension with performance-tuned lowering springs that drop the truck 10mm up front and 30mm in the rear, giving it an aggressive stance and lowering the center of gravity.

The upgraded monotube rear dampers and beefed-up stabilizer bar (increased from 29.9 N/mm to 34.7 N/mm) mean this thing actually handles. Increased compression and rebound damping give you better vehicle control, whether you're loaded down with gear or running empty.

It's the difference between a truck that's just fast and a truck that's genuinely fun to drive.

The Looks to Match

We showcase two signature color schemes: Black or Bronze. Both get the full treatment with unique "300T" graphics, Ford Performance badges on the fenders, grille and floor mats, and black chrome lug nuts.

The Bronze package adds bronze Maverick tailgate lettering that just pops against the paint. I've seen the SEMA show truck in person, and trust me, photos don't do it justice.

Built for the Community

I want to take a second to talk about the Maverick community, because you all are the reason this package exists. The creativity, the passion, the ingenuity you bring to these trucks — it's inspiring. We see the suspension upgrades, the wheel setups, the cosmetic mods. We see people using these trucks for everything from daily commuting to weekend adventuring to actual work.

The Details

The Maverick 300T Project Vehicle is designed for the 2025 Maverick XL, XLT, and Lariat models equipped with the 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine and all-wheel drive. Although it can be fitted without, we would recommend the 4K tow package that provides extra cooling for the transmission.

See It at SEMA

If you're heading to SEMA 2025 in Las Vegas, come by the Ford Performance Parts booth. The Maverick 300T Project Vehicle will be there, and our team will be on hand to walk you through every detail of the package. Ask questions.

This Is Just the Beginning

More of this playbook is coming from Ford Custom Garage. We obsess over our customers’ passions, and then we turn them up to 11 and bring them to life. This project vehicle is just the latest in that story. Stay tuned for more.

Matthew Simpson is the Executive Director of Accessories and Personalization, leading the team that develops and delivers the ultimate Ford passion products. When he’s not dreaming up new performance upgrades, he’s on the streets and trails with Ford enthusiasts to see what we should build next.

It looks nice. The bronze accents fit well. IMO they could go a little lower with the suspension though. But it is a sharp looking truck!

Customized floor mats?
Sort of reminds me of a pig with lipstick.
Sorry.

And if they really are ’scrolling through maverick truck forums’ it would be nice if they would help out the sea of Mav. owners with chronic battery problems too.

I remember replying to someone’s posts a good while ago wondering if anyone would figure out if the FP 2.3 crate motor or a Mountune crate 2.3/2.0 would work with the Maverick easily. I guess Ford had their eye on it too and decided to try it out. I can see this being a really worth while upgrade so long as price point isn’t out of this world. Could be a baby FP700 kit maybe an ‘FP300’ like what the F150s get all while maintaining Ford warranty. Would still like if they offered a ProCal FP tune + intake for the stock 2.0 for those who can’t afford or justify a crate motor. But looks pretty good so far, nice to see Ford hasn’t completely abandoned aftermarket upgrades for the Maverick.

Read it again, this is only a turbo + intercooler + tune upgrade ... The rest is the stock 2.0 engine
Definitely a mis-read on my behalf. Trying to read the post at work 😅
But still cool with having a factory turbo upgrade option off a 2.3. People have definitely done it already, but nice to see Ford recognizing the potential from the slightly larger motors and the compatibility for components swapped over to the Maverick.

Awesome. No reason to get a lobo. This will be faster while being much more versatile.

It will probably never reach production, there just isn't a feasible market for this thing and the MSRP plus mark ups will make it $50k+ probably, and while tuners will soon have even the Lobo at 300+HP if you were warranty minded buying a stock 300hp maverick would be cool. I'm less interested in the turbo swap than the suspension upgrades I'd like to see those hit the market for purchase at competitive prices. Which is probably more of a pipedream than this thing hitting production one day.

Hopefully the turbo, intercooler, tune option be available separately for the Lobo.

Looks really good. My only problem if I was a potential buyer is the dash and door plastics paying what I am sure will be a hefty price

Only the Lobo has Lobo Mode:)

And torque vectoring RDU & a paddle shifting 7 speed transmission.

I think the 300T is better looking in my opinion. Certainly faster than the hybrid & EB little turbo:)

I like it!
