Hello everyone!

I am active duty Air Force currently stationed in Germany and ordered a 2025 AWD hybrid back in April and is getting delivered to the port in Germany next week. My question is, can I drive it 400 miles home on the autobahn averaging 70mph. I know the owner’s manual rays to avoid high speeds for the first 1000 miles. My other option is to pay $600 and wait a few more weeks for a car shipper to deliver it to me. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Are Mavericks available in Germany, or is this a Military only deal? Can you sell your Maverick used in Germany or do you need to ship it back to the US when your deployment ends?

It is for military and DoD civilians. I could sell it before I return to the states, but the buyer would have to pay a pretty hefty import fee if they aren’t DoD. I plan on shipping it back to the US when I leave though.

I just drove mine back from the dealer (1700 miles) and went down a rabbit hole of research before! Vary speed and throttle input (I found driving one song at one speed and switching speeds when the next one came on worked well!) plan a few stops and if possible . In Europe you’re way better equipped to do this, just stay off the autobahns and pick a hilly, rustic route, drive through some nice towns… That was not an option in Northern Alberta!

BE PREPARED! You're going to be the most popular guy around. I took my little Mitsubishi Mighty Max sport pickup to Germany while in the Air Force in the '90s. Everyone wanted to borrow it or, worse yet, wanted me to come and haul their stuff.
Enjoy!

A couple of years ago, I drove my 23 XLT home from the Milwaukee area where I purchased it to the Tampa Bay area ... 1,300 miles. Not a problem at all. Tried to vary the speed a little and stayed around 70mph. Enjoy the ride.

I betcha , even with cruise control engaged , the rpm's of the ice vary considerably up and down the Autobahn hills , not to mention it switching over to electric only , quite often ....
Drive it ! Enjoy it !

The last new car I had to drive from IN to CA when it had 53 miles on the odemeter I still own. The engine still runs very well.
I tried to vary the speed with a goal of varying roughly every 20 miles. In addition I would take my foot off the gas pedal completely and let the speed coast down from 60-ish to 50-ish, and then resume speed. Figuring the manifold vacuum of the slowdown might pull some oil onto the cylinder walls and lube the rings a bit, possibly cooling them off some at the same time.
So far it has not burned oil between changes, done at about the 5-6k intervals, and was the daily commuter for out 70-mile round trip to work for a several years. Just about 200k miles of commuting without a problem of note.
I do not know if this 'break in' treatment was needed or just new car paranoia about 'doing it wrong', but it has turned out pretty well as far as I am concerned. I doubt there are many Taurus/Sables of my vintage on the road any more, but this one could still take a road trip with no problem.
I plan the same for my XLT ecoboost, and so far it has done well. My mpg average since new is around 31.5, so I must be doing something right.

It's a particular dealer that is based in Switzerland- they package in the cost of shipping it overseas and shipping it back to USA when servicemember returns. They can only sell overseas, not USA. Except for like 30days after someone returns.

It always cracked me up seeing people waiting for their US-spec BMW built in North Carolina to get shipped to Germany. :D
