Brand new hybrid breaks during pickup.

I just came back from going to see my brand new Maverick Hybrid. On the test drive with 8 miles on it, I slow down for a stop light going about 15 miles an hour I hear a really loud thud it stalls. I start it again the check engine light is on it has a slight miss with some shuddering and seems to be staying in engine mode alot more.
Now after a year and a half I have to wait till they look at it Monday. Not a great start for me. It made it 12 miles before its first problem.

I just came back from going to see my brand new Maverick Hybrid. On the test drive with 8 miles on it, I slow down for a stop light going about 15 miles an hour I hear a really loud thud it stalls. Now after a year and a half I have to wait till they look at it Monday. Not a great start for me. It made it 12 miles before its first problem.

It sounded like the electric motor engaged in reverse while braking at 15 miles an hour. I had to look at the goofy shifter to make sure it was still in drive. I have a bad feeling about all the vehicles being made right now. They are sourcing parts from anywhere they can get them right now. I bet in five years nobody will want to buy cars from the AC period (After Covid).

That's rough. Hopefully it is something minor. Please update the thread when they find the cause.

Sympathies from down in TX. That has to be a bitter pill to swallow after all the waiting. Hopefully, it is minor and they will have you going again.

Sounds like the time the main diodes blew in my Prius. Dropped into fail safe mode where ICE pushed the car to the dealership. It took a week ( early covid ) for the Toyota shop replacement them. It was under a lawsuit and voluntarily-ish recall far after warranty period ended (. 9 yrs 120,000 miles )

Hope you didn’t park it inside/ driveway. When that part blows the ‘ electric’ section is no longer available. I.E. will not restart ICE

I would demand my trade in back, if there was one, and a TOTAL reversal of the deal. Let the dealer haggle with Ford. Off to the nearest Toyota dealer.

They have told me it's throwing an egr code. Now I have to wait for them to get time to investigate.
Which I think means they can't find parts.
