If you can find it ethanol free, Top Tier, 91+ octane for the win, but depending on where you live that can be tough. If you can't find it in Top Tier then look for fuel additives with PEA and dose up the ethanol free for similar effect.
Totally agree on this. We can debate octane, but the most important thing is use Top Tier fuel. The Motor Oil Geek reviewed a test of this. With Direct Injected engines Top Tier fuel was 700% cleaner burning than regular fuel. Look it up on his channel. That is huge reduction in carbon.

I've been using 87 octane since I bought the truck. I've done a few single fill ups of mid-grade (89 octane) and premium (91 octane) but haven't noticed any differences. Planning on running my next 2-3 tanks as mid to see if I get any sort of performance boost, then my next 2-3 as premium. Will report back if I have any changes.
Totally non-scientific but since this post I've only been filling my truck with mid grade gas (89 octane). About 500 miles driven total and I've seen about a 1-2mpg decrease from regular gas (87 octane). I'm going to start filling with only premium and see if I notice any improvement over the next month or so.

My opinion- Documented truthful and accurate by small town Karen's International....

I get 34 highway, 46 city.... A tank lasts me a month or more.

Here is the moral of the story...

If you wanted fantastic gas mileage you should of bought the hybrid.. In 2022, the hybrid was base, and you just had to pay more for the gas guzzler you did buy, didn't you?? Sounds like buyers remorse..
Whereas, I paid extra for my hybrid, and I'm glad I did...
I average 27 with my Ecoboost in these Appalachian mountains all hauling ass up, down and around switchbacks. 31 on the highway at 70-80 mph with the tail gate UP mind you. Well ok ok 75-85 mph.
I’m very happy with this.

Funny thing is I keep my tank full incase the zombie apocalypse starts.
When I hit the 3/4 mark I put four or five gallons in, about once a week so, I guess my tank lasts a month or so.

Friggin trucks sweet spot speed is 95 mph.
Awww yeah at 95 Pepper is on pipe and in the wind I tell ya.

Try that with your Hybrid, betcha it don’t last twenty minutes before you need to get some charge into the battery. Prolly ten minutes at 95 mph. Then from what I understand it’s all on the Hybrids Ice.

Last time I hit a mean head wind coming down the holler I was very glad I had a turbo.
Just sayin.

No, No buyers remorse here. I’m a gasser till it runs out. :’P

There are apps for phones to find all Top Tier stations in your area or if traveling, I myself only use Top Tier fuels

"the hybrid, from all the information we have, has no use for the extra. This is really about the ecoboost...."
Someone posted this above, but it is interesting that the section in the owners manual about the vehicle doing better on 91 octane in some situations does not seem to differentiate between hybrid and eco-boost. Apparently Ford thinks it is better for either engine...
I normally use 87 in my hybrid around home, but used a lot of 91 while on our long road trip up to Dakotas and Colorado.

About 35k on mine running only 91 top tier, just like my last 2.0L. Get only about 1-2 mpg better, but appreciate the few extra HP.

Here in central MA many stations do not have 89, only 87 and 91, occasionally you can find a station with 93. BJ's gas, where I buy most of the time included. So... I use 87 basically whenever I am not towing. When towing my snowmobile trailer from here to northern ME or Canada, I usually choose a higher octane gas. No such thing as alcohol free gas here in MA. However, can usually find in Northern ME as premium fuel.

The Ecoboost is mapped to 91 octane. The 2.5L is mapped to 87.

Do with that what you'd like.
