I live in a small Ohio town and noticed when the sun hits my freshly cleaned windshield I can see from the inside looking out massive amouts of pitting. I don't drive on crowded highways or any back roads. Could this have happened during the train ride up from Mexico during the delivery process? I am surprised with only 44oo miles that I see this amount of small pitting on the windshield. It looks like I drove in sandy conditions, but never been off the pavement. Anyone else notice this?

I have a ‘23 with less than 6,000 miles and it has a similar problem. Not severe pitting, but a few. One of them is exactly in my line of sight and when the sun angle is just right it glitters like a tiny costume diamond. It is very annoying.

I have not a single chip in the hood paint so I have to wonder if the windshield glass is too easily pitted.

This has been posted before. If glass is pitted like sand it is covered under comprehensive insurance (might need the glass rider with some cos?). I checked my windshield at time of other thread and discovered that dust, dandruff, etc on the textured dash could be reflected on the windshield under some conditions. Easily checked by covering dash with something clean. In Texas if I have a car a long time I expect sand pitting replacement every 4-6 years.

A chip in line of sight would not be repairable and replacement should be covered by comprehensive ins.

I live in western Kentucky and the first time I got direct sun on my windshield I noticed the same pitting. I've wondered if it came from the train trip as well. It's good to know that I'm not the only one.

It’s a pit, not a chip. Much smaller. Annoying when it catches the sun just right, but not worth repair or replacement.

Doesn't matter what it's called if it distracts and is located in drivers line of sight it should be replaced.

Yeah that is the one thing that's disappointed me, that windshield glass did not look brand new when I got it.

Like every other truck, its a near-vertical windshield. I'll bet you're having pitting issues on the front of the hood too. The Jeep is totally vertical, and they experience the problem even more. If you have "massive amouts of pitting" on the windshield, then clearly you drive way to close to dumptrucks. There is also the problem of roads with no paved side area and big trucks kicking up the sand off the sides. Just remember the 2-second rule and stop sandblasting your vehicle.

Don’t tailgate so often, it helps. Stay away from dump trucks, salt trucks and such. Over 24k miles and 3 years, no pitting or cracks on factory window.

A good wax job will fill the pits nicely.

I never tailgate anyone especially big trucks, no pitting on the hood either. This truck will be a year old next month and with only 4400 miles it dosen't get driven too far from home and not too fast either.

I actually observed a small rock apparently that flung out of my passenger front tire headed low to pavement that the wind curved it upwards and it hit the windshield about 3" drivers side of the windshield. Did not mark the windshield.
