wish some dealer around me would drop the prices in the next couple weeks - I'd be happy to sell my '22 xl and pick up a new 25 xl for about 26-7k , that'd save me from dropping 2k on the extended warranty. Every mav around me is pretty much list price
You should contact multiple dealers and get them to compete against each other. I did that and got the price lowered substantially. Only went to one dealer to test drive and walked away after their best price. Then called the other 2 to see if they would go down on their cost. One did. Then called the first with that number and said can you beat that by 1000. They did. No pressure game. I controlled it by phone before going back. Didn't allow them to try the pressure game. I picked one of the same models at all 3 dealers, although not the same color. I acted like all I wanted was a deal. I ended up with a better price and was happy with the choice. Bidding wars can work. And if you have a favorite color a dealer will sometimes grab another's inventory and have it brought to their lot. Go at the end of the month and push!

what dealer? No 2024s left around here. Glad I snagged mine in April.
Parks Ford of Gainesville, FL. Was the one local to me that has all those MY24s on the lot. Wager most are still there as this was less than a month ago. That’s not where I bought though. I purchased at Duval Ford of Jacksonville.

Honestly, I'd have to see the paperwork to believe that number. You'd have to be in the neighborhood of $29K pre-tax, or a 25% discount off of MSRP. Unless you're failing to disclose a trade-in or a hefty cash down payment.

HRG
- $3k trade in allowance on the 2004 Ranger.
- $3k cash rebate from ford for MY2024 Mavs.

so you can call it $37K if you like. I prefer $31K because that’s what actually came out of my pocket.

Got my 24 XLT hybrid in April as well. Don't really like the front end on the 25s. I also wanted real knobs for radio and climate controls. So very happy I was able to get mine.!

Here's the best car buying advice I ever got. When you do finally pay off your vehicle, keep making that payment to a savings account. You could save enough money in 3 years to buy a new car, because you're getting the interest instead of paying it to the lender. Once you have enough saved up for a new car, keep making payments to the savings account! Then you'll have money for when your car breaks down. It's a get rich slow scheme, but it works!!
That's what I had done, after paying off my home. Back in 2010.
Though, the account was used as a "Slush Fund"...
Which, helped pay for....
* New Windows for the Home (8)
* Adding Central Air
And MY 2022 XL.. (Paid "CASH" on this one).
:)

I guess Maverick is the little engine that could. You just know that GM is watching with loathing and hatred and a desire to take those sales away from their Detroit rival. So pony up, GM. Show us what you can do.

Ford! The heartbreak of today's Chevrolet.

Given car prices and interest rates, it's the max of what the average American can afford these days. When it was reintroduced in 2022, the XL was supposed to start at $19,995. Today, the XL starts at $28,145 - a 40% increase in 3 years! $30K for an entry level pickup is a failure of economic policy, over regulation and corporate greed. When you've got the only thing the average person with just a little financial discipline can afford, you're going to sell a lot of them.
Especially when it's also a good product that a lot of people would want even if they can afford better. I know a guy who has an F-350 dually and another vehicle for his wife. But he also has a Maverick as his vehicle for when he doesn't want to drive to Dualey

I'm in the sales numbers for August. I bought my wife a leftover 2024 Ford Escape ST hybrid on August 30.

On August 29 my mechanic sent me pictures of the frame on my 2002 Grand Marquis - it had big holes rusted through it. He suggested I not repair the rear wheel bearings, and just drive the car "for a while". I'd been looking "for a while" to replace that vehicle, but never felt like the time.

Through September 2, Ford had $3,500 trade-in assistance on any 2024 Escape if you traded a 1995 or newer Ford product. Add in a $1,500 rebate, the $3,992 discount the dealer was offering - the total was $8,992 off of list price. They also actually offered me $500 trade on the Mercury with the howling rear wheel bearing and a compromised frame as well.

So I now have three hybrids:
2009 Prius
2023 Maverick
2024 Escape

Need to know profit margin on each model. If you have a small margin ( Maverick ?) you need to sell more cars. Also, it seems the volume reflects that people are not put-off by the pricing. The Maverick is still a low-cost purchase in the car world. My Lobo was < 40K out the door. I feel I got a good deal for my money.
Same. Got a Lariat for 2.5K under MSRP (38.5) and ... well, I was shopping it vs. things like crossover hybrids, SUVs, etc. The truck is simply very nice for what the price was (didn't hurt I got a remarkable trade value and excellent finance terms). Do I pine for a $20K XL? Nah. I like my power seats, my remote start, my moonroof, and my 40mpg for what I paid.

Car prices just aren't what they were in 2022/23. That's true of all vehicles.

I generally agree that our society is skewed towards greedy corporatism. Having said that, if my Maverick lasts a dozen years, I'll be very pleased with the financial outcome. We'll see.

I drove a front-wheel drive Escape Hybrid for a lot of years, it came to an untimely end and that is why I bought the Maverick! I like the drive train.

Anywhere? I have 3 dealers within 1 to 18 miles with plenty. I see alot of 24s and very few 25s driving around in my city.
I should have been clearer. I'm looking for a '25 AWD XLT hybrid. Only one within 500 miles of me (Boston).

The way Ford sees it, if they sell 150,000 Mavericks a year and don't make a penny, it's still a win. That's entry level customers in the showroom. Hopefully in a few years they buy a Ranger or a Bronco or some other big profit generating vehicle.

OEM strategy is more sophisticated than "we have to make money on every model we sell". Lots of OEMs lose money on a product line, and keep it around for entry level customers, for cachet, or a half dozen other reasons.
