2025 Hybrid. How do you decide when to change the oil?
Do you trust the "onboard oil quality monitor" to decide when to change the oil?
Do you go by the mileage?
Do you listen to the dealer?
On my previous vehicle, I used to change my full synthetic oil every 10 to 12 000 miles. My dealer put a sticker after the last oil change, to change the oil again in 4000 miles. Why to pay more for full synthetic oil if I still have to change it that often?
I looked for other discussions on this forum about this subject but, surprisingly, I found none.
Thank you.
This is what I do...
Does the oil have a heavy odor of gasoline?
Is the color on the dipstick dark?
In a cold climate, is there a problem with condensation in the crankcase due to too few or not long enough trips?
A yes to 2 out of 3 will warrant a change IMO. Myself I don't exceed 5,000 miles per change and at a minimum if mileage isn't met change it twice annually. Once going into winter and once going into spring.

Do what you will. I don't think 3 or 4,000 miles is unreasonable, synthetic or not. Especially given all the extra starts a hybrid ICE goes through.

I changed mine and rotated tires at 5000 miles when new, and followed the computer oil value monitor which ended up being around 7500 miles later. So at 12500 and prob again at 20000. Full synthetic. I am old school and remember the days of 3000 miles on the dot new oil and filter. I think 7500 works for me and I drove it 300 miles this weekend and it ran magnificently. Went to a car show and an old gentleman asked me about my Maverick amongst the Porsches and Lamborghinis. I felt special. 😂

Exactly - should be more worried about battery issues?

But Mavelous2023 changing every 7500 seems smart.
Why not just trust the oil life monitor and change at 10% instead of 0% if you want to be "extra cautious"?

Most vehicles these days are equipped to deal with the visual overload of all the lights and displays and warn you about important things with an olfactory warning unit.

In the case of oil desperately in need of changing this is a diffuser operated by engine heat which releases wafts of Essence de la Deepwater Horizon, thus alerting the driver to the urgency of an oil change.
How many times can you cut a piece of string in half then halve the halves?
Shoot me again!

I am 75 years old. Yesterday at church a lady slightly younger than me asked me about my Maverick. She thought that it is very cute. That made me feel special too.

Every 10000 miles oil and tire rotation
Ah, if life were so simple.

Ford’s extended warranty demands I change my oil at least 3 times by 10,000 miles. They recommend 6 times because I do drive under severe conditions.

I actually enjoy doing my own oil/filter changes & tire rotations.
Being retired is nice in many ways.

I just go with the book. Every 7500 miles, oil change and tire rotation. My next oil change will be at 67,500 miles.

I put less than 3000 miles on my Mav each year. My Mav reminds me when the year is up so time to change my oil regardless of mileage. I have changed the oil on my 2023 Hybrid twice. I do it myself so I know for a fact what kind of oil (I choose full synthetic, Mobile one or Kirkland) is in my truck and that it was done right.

For years I used to change my own oil. I used Miles full synthetic that I bought 5 gallons at the time. But at soon to be 76, I am too old to do it anymore

As a 70 year old I can relate to you being too old to crawl around under vehicles. In fact the last oil change I had a younger person assist me meaning I watched while he did the work. When I can no longer convince anyone to "help" me I will buy the oil and filter and find a local shop that will do the oil change for me with my supplies at a low cost.
