The Mav is the best vehicle I have ever owned. Age 68 here. Never owned a “big deal” car. Blue collar Detroit all the way. Now own a ‘25 Hybrid AWD (even though I think AWD is way overrated- even in Michigan) with the A Plan (for everyone-not a Ford Employee here) and had a ‘24 Hybrid that I waited 18 months for and got the $3400 Ford deal. Between the MPG, the ride (came from an Escape) and the utility for me no vehicle comes close.
Why hybrid responses only?

Not even in the running for best car.

After buying my first car, and then a couple of $400 college cars (it was the 80s), I read an article about the upcoming 1988 Mercury Cougar, which had a full foot more driver legroom than the '83.

So with my car dying, my father ordered an '88, and I took his '83 when it arrived, for a whopping $0.

And then it turned out that while it had an extra foot of legroom, it lost several inches of headroom! On the bright side, it had enough low-end power to get out of its own way, while even with that big v6 on the 83, you had nothing below 10 or 15 mph.

I have to agree with Surly Old Bill on this:
too soon for me to have an opinion, but I've had several vehicles in my 50 years of driving. .......
I bought my first car in 1971 as a teen. Since then I've had a few and some have been great value wise, some have been great drive wise. Few have been great all around. My Lariet Maverick is the most I've ever paid for a vehicle by long shot because I've not bought new since my 1983 5 liter Mustang (a very long time). How the value has worked out for that I don't know, because I've not sold it yet, (probably just OK). The only categories the Maverick wins for me is the best fuel mileage for a truck, longest fuel range, most versatile and best sound system maybe. I say maybe as I don't hear well enough anymore to really judge it, it's the only one I had that's had a subwoofer. Maybe if that were bigger I could at least feel it, I really don't note it in my hearing aides. How reliable will it be? I'm not hopeful: I have already have battery problems, glitches in the dash screen software, and multiple recalls. I expect to have to replace the CV's prematurly and who knows what else Ford has screwed up. I won't know for a while, but it's not looking positive. I do like the vehicle and the driving experience, but I can't say it's the best and at this point I doubt time will change that.

It's the most expensive car I've ever bought, too. Including the Sprinter. But that's inflation; I bought the Sprinter about 20 years ago, and the Transit(not Connect) almost 10 years ago; both new. The last Tacoma I bought was a 2000 fully loaded V6 SR5 extracab 4x4, and it was $23,500. One report said the buying power of USA $ has dropped in half since 2012, and it's dropping even faster now that we have to pay tariffs to the government. That was the main motivation for me to pick up a Maverick now; looming tariffs, and then FoMoCo did the "employee pricing" (5% lower than MSRP) special.

I'm also a little worried about the CVT, but at least it's a chain and not a belt. For reliability and lower repair cost, but likely higher purchase price, Ford should consider an EV drivetrain with a built-in Range Extender (gasoline powered generator). EV drivetrain is simple and cheap, and the old myth about battery replacement cost ended years ago. BUT, the ability to "fuel up" with gas when needed makes Range Extender EVs attractive.

Being really old, I don't plan on keeping this pickup much past the warranty, I don't want to have to be bothered with crawling under it to fix/replace stuff, or sit around for days/weeks waiting and paying a premium for a dealership disservice center to get around to fixing whatever happens to it after warranty. At this age, I'm willing to spend a little more by trading in vehicles as they end warranty coverage and getting a new one. That's what the car rental companies like Hertz do, and they have expensive accountants that figured out this was the best financial strategy.

I looked around and compared notes on a lot of vehicles, and the Maverick XT Hybrid came out on top, but I'm now having second thoughts that I should have gone up a trim level to have a entry keypad, power side mirrors, and a few other luxuries that I've become used to. I could have sold the aluminum rims to offset the upsell cost of the XLT package.

The Maverick's eCVT does not even use a chain, it uses gears providing infinite ratios shifted by an electric motor that has proven very reliable much like the ones in the Prius'.
By the 2024 MY the keypad was a dealer installed item only and you can still get it. If you had added basic CP-360 for $650, it would have also included power mirrors and maybe better insurance rates.

The Maverick DOES NOT have a CVT. It has an e-CVT which is completely different. E-CVT's have planetary gears and are considered to be more reliable than CVT's and traditional automatic transmissions.

I read about so many vehicles that I incorrectly identified the CVT type in the Maverick. Thanks for the reminder that it's GEARS and not a chain or belt. Also the reminder why I didn't care that it had a CVT; because of the type used.

No question, my 24 Man Lariat BOP Hybrid is without a fantastic truck. Would buy another if they would change the front end.

I've had some nice fun cars to drive, including a Miata, a Mini Cooper, even a '67 Mustang Fastback, but for an all around vehicle nothing has served me better than my 2022 Maverick hybrid!
I can put 4 adults and 4 golf bags in the back and over 41 mpg. Who can ask for more than that 🙂
I've put over 72000 miles on it. I love the extra get up and go I get with the combination electric and ice from the stop light or onto the freeway. It's surprisingly smooth and quiet. I'm so impressed I've ordered a 2025 AWD hybrid and I'm waiting again. Took me 6 months the 1st time, and I'm hoping it's quicker this time.
I feel much the same way about my 23 Lariat Hybrid which I waited nearly a year for. I am not putting the mileage that you have been doing. Yes definitely in terms of the overall capabilities which you mention, I don't think that any vehicle is similar. I had a 2004 Focus GTS for many years (150k) and was always fun to drive because of its handling and drivability, but at this point in my life I do not drive as aggressively as I did back then. Now, the goal is maximizing the regen energy capability which is reflected on the "EV Coach" screen of this Maverick vehicle. I actually find it fun and rewarding from a conservation standpoint, and of course it is much more economical.

First post here.

I picked up a 24 XL with almost no options off a nearby dealership rather than picking up a used regular sized pickup. Got an acceptable deal (Not great, not bad) for about what I was willing to pay for the used vehicle. I bought this to save $$ on my commute to work (about $2K less for the first year). I didn't get the bells and whistles because they don't really matter to me. I wanted reliable transportation. So far it is just that. It did fine this past winter but sure wasn't the same as my 4x4 V8 going through the snow. Only 25k on it so reliability remains in question but so far absolutely no issues. Getting my 6'5" 265lb arse in and out of the vehicle ain't the greatest but better than expected. Overall. from a vehicle standpoint I would describe the Maverick as cromulent. From a value standpoint, far and away the best vehicle I've had. Would buy again.

Is it the absolute Best? That's hard to say because my priorities changed over time. The most fun was 1986.5 Toyota Supra I owned in my 30s. The best ride was the 2007 Lincoln Town Car ( deer damage) . It's Old school luxury. But I guess my Maverick is the best all around due to its practicality, features, and excellent fuel economy. And the ride and handling are more than decent. I still hope to fix my town car and drive it again for old times sake. But I'm loving this 2025 Maverick Hybrid thus far.

I purchased my Maverick in mid May. I already have over 11,000 miles on it. Most are from commuting 90 miles daily to and from work along with other necessary driving. But I must admit that a good portion is simply joy riding because the excellent in Town fuel economy allows me to afford unnecessary driving. 😅

Obviously we should start our own thread for those of us that weren't allowed to comment but...

I wish this was the best vehicle I've ever owned, because it very easily could be. The Maverick is just a perfect fit for my lifestyle and for what I need in a vehicle. It's just too bad it was put together so cheaply. And yes, I'm aware of the balance of cost vs quality and all of that, but the number of recalls and now my collection of broken sensors is wearing thin on me in a hurry. If my Maverick dropped dead tomorrow I'm not sure I wouldn't buy another one, which is unfortunate because it's such a good design, I'm just tired of fixing stupid shit on it that should never have failed in the 3 years I've owned it.

'22 - pure base 0 option CG hybrid, 30k miles, never had a problem, 45 mpg (i drive pretty much all city) ice cold a/c, paid 22K out the door, 6k left on a 2 percent loan, will be buying the extended warr thru Granger though. Wish new ones were in the 25K range where I would sell my current one and throw the warranty money towards the new one but I'm good with where I'm at.
