I just put my foot on the brake and shift into N and apply the parking brake myself. Then I let go of my foot to rest all the weight on the parking brake. To finish I put my foot on the brake again and shift into Park. Done.
You're missing one step: shift into N and pressing the L bottom to engage N for real.

The truck will always startup in PARK. It will never start in gear no matter where the gear selector was left prior to shutdown. The only way to have it out of gear when off is to enable the neutral tow feature which is a very specific process.
That is very reassuring from a safety standpoint, but if I back in to parallel park next to a curb on a sidewalk, eat at a nice local restaurant (tip nicely).
If I don't select away from Park, I don't know if the vehicle will go forward or backwards.

Hello,

I have a 2025 Hybrid and I have noticed that the parking brake automatically activates when I shift to parking when the truck is on an incline. When the truck is on flat ground it doesn't activate. Is there a way to have it always activate when it is shifted to P, regardles of inclination? Can it be done via Forscan? I had a Corolla Hybrid and that one always activated the P brake automatically. My pet peeve is that sometimes the truck is on a slight incline, small enough that it doesn't recognize it and it doesn't apply the brake and when it is shifted back to D you can hear a clunk noise from the transmission, like all the weight of the truck is resting on the transmission. Thanks in advance!
I never use that auto parking/ hill ebrake feature. It's irritating. So easy to keep your foot on the brake for a minute or two. I live in a hilly area and still don't find the need. Would much rather have a parking brake lever.

I'm not really sure what it is you're suggesting will happen. Your foot has to be on the brake to change gears, so I'd just leave it there until you're ready to move. The vehicle shouldn't move at all until you tell it to. If you're worried about rolling any amount, I'd enable the brake hold feature to eliminate any possible movement.

Can you enlighten me what the difference is between a CVT and an e-CVT? and are these e-CVT's mechanically similar whether you have a hybrid, PHEV, or BEV?
A CVT, as you know, uses belts and pulleys. An e-CVT uses planetary gears and electric motors and e-CVT's are much more robust than CVT's. I hate that they're called e-CVT's, they should have been given a better name since they really have nothing in common with CVT's except the name. You can find plenty of information with a Google search if you want more information on the difference and there are some good video's on youtube as well.

eCVT is more a marketing term by a few makers , not an industry term like CVT which just describes a type of tranny.
But I think it will become an industry term - as those using it want to separate themselves from the only prior methods CVT used (belts).

Toyota maybe is trying to use PowerSplit as their term now, not sure.
Ford has used a couple different terms on their window stickers.
Mazda is using eCVT also.
Honda eDrive.

I think they all started trying to use different terms when the reliability of the belt style CVT started getting more publicly known and people started ignorantly spouting off that all CVT's are bad.

BEV's don't need a tranny like that, so in general no.
Others yes.

Yes - go confirm it since pretty easy.
Shift dial turns and it's in Park.
I'll do that as soon as I can. Mine is supposed to be built Aug 22.😉

Well - not entirely sure how responding to this thread in Chrome browser and getting this recommended video in YouTube occurred....

Why the extra step going to neutral? It's not a manual transmission. With foot on the brake, shift to park and engage the parking brake.
Old school thought was that you are not putting extra pressure on the parking pinion (pawl). And, generally this is still recommended.

Seemed like that was from the days when you'd pull up or press pedal for parking brake, and if decent incline you'd still get some slop in system allowing some movement.
Such that if the parking pawl was just about to be touched - it would for some amount of that weight.

I've not noticed any slop on truck when the EPB engages - stay in drive, move to neutral, go to park.
Only movement is the truck bed going up or down in air depending on incline direction.
