If a 3 step process is too complex you can do it with only 2. Push the parking brake button & turn off the car - it will shift into park when you turn it off.
Im not complaining about the complexity of the process because it is not, I am complaining about the inconsistency of the feature and looking for a way, if posible, to modify it with Forscan.

You can't modify that behavior in FORScan. However, if you forget about "P" and just pull the parking brake every time instead as @scharris99 has suggested, the results will be 100% consistent.

I am just curious. Typically if I park on a hill I put my foot on the brake, put it into park, put on the EPB, then let my foot off the brake. Does that put any pressure on the CVT?

Nope, you're good doing it that way.

That would be impossible since the Maverick Hybrid doesn't have a CVT, it has an e-CVT which not at all the same thing.

I just put my foot on the brake and shift into N and apply the parking brake myself. Then I let go of my foot to rest all the weight on the parking brake. To finish I put my foot on the brake again and shift into Park. Done.
No thank you, I'll use my method. I'll underline it for you if you can't read it..."to rest all the weight on the parking brake". The eCVT will get weighted before the parking brake engages, IME.
I've been doing it the same way you have since 1991. I'm not saying it's absolutely necessary to do it this way but to me the extra step is just extra piece of mind. It doesn't really take any longer to do it this way.

Plus it's a good way to make sure the parking brake is holding the vehicle and doesn't need any adjustment. Several years ago we found out the parking brake on my wife's old Escape needed an adjustment because it wouldn't hold the car still on steep inclines. In neutral the car would slowly roll down the driveway.

My '23 engages p-brake automatically if it senses truck is on a steep enough hill.

You can
1- come to a stop with foot on brake
2- push p-brake
3- shut truck off with push button (if equipped)

and it automatically also shifts to Park with #3.

I had a double Maverick Whammy (no whammy no whammy no whammy!!!!!) tonight when I realized I have a sizeable piece of metal stuck in the tread of the rear drivers side tire and then when I reached the store and attempted to put my Mav in park the dash lit up like a fuckin Christmas tree and kept telling me repeatedly that the truck would not go into park no matter if I tried to shut it off, open the door, neutral > p.brake > park.

I just left it in the parking lot yelling at me (or randos passing by) and went into the store. When I came back it was quiet but as soon as I opened the door all hell broke lose again. It let me drive home and as I had the phone recording it and placed it in P - everything went off without a hitch.

Still going to have a flat in the morning. Time for those 235/55/19 BFG Trail Terrain TAs I guess......

Does the shift dial turn when you do that?

No, there's no motor in it. It's like a radio volume knob- it's just electronic sending a signal to a computer. No real connection to the engine or transmission.

So then on restart, is the vehicle in the forward or reverse direction you left it in? Do you need to return to Park? Can I run up a curb when I intended to back up?

Can you enlighten me what the difference is between a CVT and an e-CVT? and are these e-CVT's mechanically similar whether you have a hybrid, PHEV, or BEV?

A regular cvt uses a belt and two "pulleys" that change in diameter and thus adjust the gear ratio. An eCVT, like in Fords and Toytas has two motor generators and a planetary gear. They are VERY different from each other.

The truck will always startup in PARK. It will never start in gear no matter where the gear selector was left prior to shutdown. The only way to have it out of gear when off is to enable the neutral tow feature which is a very specific process.
