Hello,

I have a 2025 Hybrid and I have noticed that the parking brake automatically activates when I shift to parking when the truck is on an incline. When the truck is on flat ground it doesn't activate. Is there a way to have it always activate when it is shifted to P, regardles of inclination? Can it be done via Forscan? I had a Corolla Hybrid and that one always activated the P brake automatically. My pet peeve is that sometimes the truck is on a slight incline, small enough that it doesn't recognize it and it doesn't apply the brake and when it is shifted back to D you can hear a clunk noise from the transmission, like all the weight of the truck is resting on the transmission. Thanks in advance!

I just put my foot on the brake and shift into N and apply the parking brake myself. Then I let go of my foot to rest all the weight on the parking brake. To finish I put my foot on the brake again and shift into Park. Done.

Yeah, that's what I do as well but it would be nice if the feature wasn't half assed and apply the brake regardless of inclination 😅

Quicker than that routine - don't let the long notice on screen fool ya - it instantly engaged the EPB as that notice popped up.

D or R - whatever you are in, keep foot on brake obviously.
Engage EPB.
Shift to P while hand right there.
Foot off brake.
Done.

Must be a 25MY feature of auto-EPB, unless you happen to have auto-Hold engaged already - that is known to engage the EPB on inclines.

My 24MY I've accidentally done what you described on steeper incline and no auto-EPB. I'm not in habit on my normal home slight incline, just releasing the brake slowly so no bouncy.

Why the extra step going to neutral? It's not a manual transmission. With foot on the brake, shift to park and engage the parking brake.

It's not a 2025 feature, all Ford's auto apply parking brake and have for a long time.

What's the need to apply the parking brake on level ground?

No thank you, I'll use my method. I'll underline it for you if you can't read it..."to rest all the weight on the parking brake". The eCVT will get weighted before the parking brake engages, IME.

I can confirm from both my slight incline at home driving in or reversing in, and from steeper hills, my 24MY XLT hybrid absolutely does NOT engage the EPB when I shift to park.

They must have improved the speed on the 24MY then.
If I engage the EPB, and then shift to Park and let brake pedal go immediately - it's engaged. Always get the bed rise or drop when foot released, depending on direction facing on incline.

Not totally necessary on ground level but it would be great if the feature was consistent. Also, a lot of times you can be parked on a slight grade and assume that the truck will apply the brake automatically and then it doesn't and the weight of the vehicle is now resting on the transmission.

There's a little button with the (P) on it that you can depress when you park.
That should do it.

No, you just live in a flat area and my driveway is on a steep incline. I can always tell when the mobile Ford tech parks it because I can feel the weight on the transmission and I have to "clunk" it out of Park into Drive. Not good.

Perhaps you misunderstood and think I'm taking my foot off the brake during the process. What I do is I keep my foot on the brake until the parking brake engages. No pressure on the transmission. I park on a sloped driveway, never have any issues, roll back or issues when starting up and pull away. Yes the system holds the brake when I shift out of park, that's hill assist, it's supposed to hold it until you press the accelerator. Nothing wrong with your transmission whatsoever. RTFM.
