Best advice I ever heard was to buy a few bags of mulch or topsoil when you suspect a hailstorm. If you know a hailstorm is coming and can't pull the vehicle indoors PROTECT THE ROOF, cover the roof with whatever you have a few blankets and cardboard and tie it down, that's where the money is, a hood can be replaced easily a roof is big BUCKS.
After I retired, I worked for a major insurance company as a damage appraiser, shortly after I started, we had the one and only hailstorm here in NY, LI that I ever heard of, we were estimating vehicle for months, I know this happens often in other states but unheard of here, it was aways the roof that totaled most vehicles out. The PDR guys set up tents in big lots were 100s of cars were damaged and worked night and day, they flew men/women in from all over the country, they were in their glory, they made a lot of money.
Lots of Bondo on a aluminum hood won't last, engine heat will affect it, the Maverick don't have a insulation pad inside engine compartment, I have seen them being sold AM. Try PDR or for long term repair replace hood or live with it.
Great idea!!Best advice I ever heard was to buy a few bags of mulch or topsoil when you suspect a hailstorm.
(Never actually tried it, because my vehicles stay in the garage).
Easy to cover the hood/roof areas and you can use them in your yard after the fact.
What do you mean it was TOTALED? If so, it is the insurance company's problem now. Take the money and buy another one.My Maverick was totalled due to hail recently. I am in the process of fixing it due to my inability to afford to have an alternative. Does anyone know where to find a hood cheap or any advice for Bondo/ fixing a lot of dents easily?
The back window was replaced because it was busted out. I didn't upload pictures because I have a life.No pictures.
No mention of glass breakage.
Strange….
Ouch!!!!Ok. Here are some pictures

For what it's worth, the hood costs the same as the roof from ford, but the labor to install is obviously MUCH lower. If you know a hailstorm is coming and can't pull the vehicle indoors PROTECT THE ROOF, cover the roof with whatever you have a few blankets and cardboard and tie it down, that's where the money is, a hood can be replaced easily a roof is big BUCKS.

That's assuming that OP has gap insurance or full replacement or whatever it's called. If they don't then it's a fight to get enough out of the insurance company to buy a new truck, IF you can find one in a reasonable period of time. What do you mean it was TOTALED? If so, it is the insurance company's problem now. Take the money and buy another one.
Heh, I haven't actually seen large hail warned in a while, but I got a few funny looks a decade ago when there was a storm putting down "golf balls" a couple of dozen clicks away and I piled all my lawn furniture on top of my ride.If you know a hailstorm is coming and can't pull the vehicle indoors PROTECT THE ROOF, cover the roof with whatever you have a few blankets and cardboard and tie it down, that's where the money is, a hood can be replaced easily a roof is big BUCKS.
