My Maverick was totalled due to hail recently. I am in the process of fixing it due to my inability to afford to have an alternative. Does anyone know where to find a hood cheap or any advice for Bondo/ fixing a lot of dents easily?

How bad was the damage (pictures)? My '23 Escape suffered damage on the hood and roof when it was waiting to be shipped from Louisville and they were able to remove them all using paintless dent repair techniques.

There are DIY Paintless Dent Repair methods and techniques used to remove lessor dents through cold and heat application. Might look this up on the internet and give it a shot before messing with the paint. Hoods should be available maybe even in your color at salvage yards that can locate parts all over. Good Luck!

Yeah my 1st thought would be paintless dent repair, either for the whole truck or a new hood + paintless on the rest of it.

There's a million videos on YouTube but odds are that a DIY Bondo + cheap paint job will look terrible

But if money's tight, can't you drive it as-is until things get better? Also dimples help aerodynamics so you'll get better fuel economy 😉

PDR can do amazing things and take out hundreds of hail dents - go to the new car dealers in the area and ask who they use - their lots get hit hard and they do this for the new cars and don't disclose because it works 100%

Pictures, at least one. I hide mine under the back porch every time there’s a hail threat.

If you know a hailstorm is coming and can't pull the vehicle indoors PROTECT THE ROOF, cover the roof with whatever you have a few blankets and cardboard and tie it down, that's where the money is, a hood can be replaced easily a roof is big BUCKS.
After I retired, I worked for a major insurance company as a damage appraiser, shortly after I started, we had the one and only hailstorm here in NY, LI that I ever heard of, we were estimating vehicle for months, I know this happens often in other states but unheard of here, it was aways the roof that totaled most vehicles out. The PDR guys set up tents in big lots were 100s of cars were damaged and worked night and day, they flew men/women in from all over the country, they were in their glory, they made a lot of money.
Lots of Bondo on a aluminum hood won't last, engine heat will affect it, the Maverick don't have a insulation pad inside engine compartment, I have seen them being sold AM. Try PDR or for long term repair replace hood or live with it.

Looks like used hoods at salvage yards are running as low as $335 salvage on car-part.com all the way up to just under $900 for a new unpainted one from a place like carid.com.

Yeah, we need to see pix, but agree with those saying just drive it as-is. If you are in a financial pickle, it makes no sense to put money into cosmetic issues, as long as it is safe & mechanically sound. Obtaining a salvage title has nothing to do with looks, you only need to pass the safety inspection.
