If you know a hailstorm is coming and can't pull the vehicle indoors PROTECT THE ROOF, cover the roof with whatever you have a few blankets and cardboard and tie it down, that's where the money is, a hood can be replaced easily a roof is big BUCKS.
After I retired, I worked for a major insurance company as a damage appraiser, shortly after I started, we had the one and only hailstorm here in NY, LI that I ever heard of, we were estimating vehicle for months, I know this happens often in other states but unheard of here, it was aways the roof that totaled most vehicles out. The PDR guys set up tents in big lots were 100s of cars were damaged and worked night and day, they flew men/women in from all over the country, they were in their glory, they made a lot of money.
Lots of Bondo on a aluminum hood won't last, engine heat will affect it, the Maverick don't have a insulation pad inside engine compartment, I have seen them being sold AM. Try PDR or for long term repair replace hood or live with it.
Best advice I ever heard was to buy a few bags of mulch or topsoil when you suspect a hailstorm.
(Never actually tried it, because my vehicles stay in the garage).
Easy to cover the hood/roof areas and you can use them in your yard after the fact.

I guess in a pinch I could do that with bags of cat litter since I always have a few 20lbs bags in the house. Just gently lay the bag on the roof to not cause another issue

My Maverick was totalled due to hail recently. I am in the process of fixing it due to my inability to afford to have an alternative. Does anyone know where to find a hood cheap or any advice for Bondo/ fixing a lot of dents easily?
What do you mean it was TOTALED? If so, it is the insurance company's problem now. Take the money and buy another one.

Ouch!!!!

I had my 1990 Ranger damaged in a wind storm in the 90s. It was hit many times with flying asphalt roof shingles. They left long scratch marks all over the roof, fenders, doors & hood. Even the back of the cab. I was able to get it repainted, But I still have bad memories.

I am sorry I had you post now. I am sick just looking at them.

If I had to do something, I'd attack it with suction cups first pass. Can probably get a pair of "utility" clamp on suction cups from a harbor freight type place for 5 or 10.

Well it's banged up but it looks perfectly driveable so you're fine for now without paying anything.

I'd be on the lookout for a good deal on a used (hopefully matching color) hood when money allows, then try to find a good deal on PDR and do the sides. Roof can be done last, it's out of sight anyhow

My truck got hit by a huge storm last year, ruined the hood, roof, drivers front fender and hundreds of dents. Insurance covered the whole repair but it was over $20,000 Canadian to put the truck back to right.
If I was paying out of pocket I'd have probably just replaced the hood with one from a wrecker and ignored the rest of the dents, they don't affect the truck's reliability.

For what it's worth, the hood costs the same as the roof from ford, but the labor to install is obviously MUCH lower.

That's assuming that OP has gap insurance or full replacement or whatever it's called. If they don't then it's a fight to get enough out of the insurance company to buy a new truck, IF you can find one in a reasonable period of time.

If you fill with bondo, just remember that it heats differently than metal. With dew on it in the moring, it will look like a golfball due to the differing heat absorption.

Heh, I haven't actually seen large hail warned in a while, but I got a few funny looks a decade ago when there was a storm putting down "golf balls" a couple of dozen clicks away and I piled all my lawn furniture on top of my ride.
